Post Define Success & Failure @ 2012 YEC For The Top 8 Girls

of course success for all 8 girls is winning the title and failure is going 0-3 in RR but I think each player has different goals going into this year's tournament

Vika
Success: Losing to Serena in SF or F
Failure: Not making the SF

Na
Success: Winning 2 matches in RR (and hopefully advancing to SF)
Failure: ERROR-NA showing up and losing without a fight

Sara
Success: Winning 1 match in the RR
Failure: After being Golden Setted, I don't think anything would be a failure here except for Double Golden Set

Serena
Success: Winning the title, embarassing the other big girls along the way
Failure: Anything else

XWTA Golden Flower GOATs - Duan Han Liu Lu Peng Wang Xu Yang Zhang Zheng Zhu
XWTA Non-Chinese Faves - Crawford Ivanovic Kvitova Muguruza Riley

Re: Define Success & Failure @ 2012 YEC For The Top 8 Girls

Kerber
success:Winning against Errani/Kvitova
Failure - losing 3 set matches with MPs up.

Errani
success: beating a player other than Kerber
Failure: losing to Kerber.

Vika:
Success: beating Serena
Failure: losing. that's it, it's fight for YE#1, so if she fails now, her whole year will be in a sense, pointless as a #1 ranked player.

Serena: beating Na, Radwanska and Vika.
losing to Na or Sharapova

if you have nothing important to say, please do so in non-tennis forum. if you have something you think is important, but is actually rubbish regarding anything other than tennis - please do so in the non-tennis forum. if you have something tennis related to say, but it's actually "OMG, X player is so h0t!1" or "who has the biggest boobs on the wtatour" please do so in menstennisforum, under "wta forum". if you have something important, tennis-related and interesting to say please do so. No one in the world can understand how much tennis means to someone, except another fan.

Re: Define Success & Failure @ 2012 YEC For The Top 8 Girls

Errani --> Success: Getting a set from someone. Failure: Being double golden bageled.

The belief that man is an irresolute creature pulled this way and that by two forces of equal strength, alternately winning and losing the battle for his soul; the conviction that human life is nothing more than an uncertain struggle between heaven and hell; the faith in two opposed entities, Satan and Christ - all this was bound to engender those internal discords in which the mind, excited by the incessant fighting, stimulated as it were by the constant promises and threats, ends up by giving in and prostitutes itself to whichever of the two combatants has been more obstinate in its pursuit. Life isn't black and white, it's gold.

Serena's success isn't a win. If she were to lose to Azarenka or Kvitova, it'd be fine. Anyone else would be her failure.

I think that's a bit too harsh, for her failure would probably be not making the final in my opinion.
