True, it was quite noticeable. She fist pumped on nearly every point she won (on UEs of her opponents as well), she screamed in frustration just to laugh a second later, she was arguing so much with the umpires, talked to herself between points, even threw her racket at 1-0 in the first set of a match this week. I doubt it's good for her to waste so much energy on her emotions but then again, maybe this is exactly what gives her energy. She will know it best.

Re: Venus def Petko 5-7 6-4 6-4

Awwww I wish both of them could have won , but so pleased for Venus - she is so determined to win the title this week

Please win the title - I think most of the tennis world would be so happy for you. You are truly an inspirational woman

Very upset for Petko, cuz she wanted it so much too, but Petko has more time to win plenty of titles and she is just getting her groove back. As long as she stays injury free, she should be back in the top 20 some time next year

GOOD LUCK TOMORROW VEE - Keep your determination going ... just one more match!!

This was an OK scrap. Petkovic is getting back on track, looks like, and Venus played on average just well enough. Petko would do really well to work on her serve during the off-season to accelerate her return to the top echelons of the game. No reason such a strong girl should not be able to serve faster than 100 MPH. Her basic game + her fitness are good enough for most except the best anyway, but she needs to be able to win some more service games convincingly against the rank and file.

I didn't see this match, but I saw some of her matches in Lux and Linz. She's been very emotional, she was much different before the injuries. And her coach behaves differently as well.

Yes and if she wins I think she can get the #24 seed as long as Hsieh doesn't play too much more this year. But you never know with her

Being #24 is huge because she wouldn't have to play #1-8 until the 4R. Yay for no more shitty draws!

She won't play Brisbane, I guess?

Edit: Dumb post, she'll play HC.

Re: Venus def Petko 5-7 6-4 6-4

I was skeptical about Vee entering this tournament but if she sins the title I'll have been so so so wrong. Great job Vee

I always wanted to be somebody. If I made it, it's half because I was game enough to take a lot of punishment along the way and half because there were a lot of people who cared enough to help me.
