Next week there are 20 ITF tournaments ! / ITF Calendar discussion

I know it's quite random and there are no WTA tournaments next week beside Istanbul.

But 20 (!!) ITF tournaments is a enourmously huge number.

Of course, there will be many weak fields and easy points to collect.
There are always huge differences in Entry Lists and Last Direct Acceptance (CUT), we already discussed that...

But I just wanna ask if someone knows why there are so many tournaments and why there are weeks with only 3 or 4?

Titel [Suicide T.]: Doha 2016, Gstaad 2016, Linz 2015, Marrakesch 2014, YEC 2014,
Rom 2013, Guangzhou 2013, Peking 2012 und Fes 2012
[TT]: ITF Cagnes-Sur-Mer 2011 und ITF Hechingen 2012
[TT D]: ITF Shrewsbury 2012 (mit Hapsara) und ITF Biarritz 2013 (mit Heinann)
[FITD]: Budapest 2013, s'Hertogenbosch 2016 und Peking 2016

I´m not sure but ITF doesn´t make the schedule, right? So if the tournament directors or whoever make a decision about it want to have their tournament on this week they probably can and they don´t look at how many other tournaments there are in the same week(?)

Re: Next week there are 20 ITF tournaments ! / ITF Calendar discussion

I think it should be a lot of 10k$ for bagel girls, but not 7 25k$ + 75k$ and 100k$. To have stronger ELs they should introduce restictions:

- 1 greater than 75k$ per week (includes 75k$)
- 2 greater than 50k$ per week (includes 50k$)
- 5 greater than 25k$ per week (includes 25k$)

Number of 10k$ is not important, because it should be a lot of small 10k$ for young and weak players to improve and gain
experience.

In my opinion, ITF introduce also ranking restrictions.

- 2 players in TOP 50, 5 players in TOP 75, 10 players in TOP 100 for 100k$
- 3 players in TOP 75, 7 players in TOP 100 for 75k$
- 3 players from TOP 100 for 50k$
- 4 players from TOP 150 for 25k$

If tournament don't meet requirements, they will be cancelled.

I'll change also the number of tournaments that players can commit. A lot of them practise vulturing with commiting to 5 or more tournaments and then they choose one which is quite near and has the weakest EL.

In my view, they should be able to commit to max 2 tournaments and then choose from them.

My last postulate, if there is WTA Challenger, there won't be any ITF tournaments over 25k$.

I disagree with tenisboss. If promoters are willing to commit money to pay lesser-ranked players, then good for them. There should be no artificial limit. When tournaments fold, we'll know there are too many tournaments. That said, doesn't mean I care about any of them.
