First of all, I wont count the 2008 aus open beatdown cause Lindsay was clearly set for retirement then and that was Peak Pova. But in the other matches, starting from 2004 Wimbledon, Maria has shown that she is the superior player.
You contradicted by saying that Maria played Lindsay when she was 5 or so years past her prime and then you said that Lindsay was at her best during the 2005 IW. First of all, their IW meeting was a freak accident. It was one of those twilight moments in tennis. Even Lindsay has admitted that it was a weird match.
But during 2004-2005, even though Lindsay was old, she was playing exceptional tennis. She ended both years at number 1. She made the Aus open finals and wimbledon finals in 2005 (nearly won both of them). So yes, Lindsay was well playing at her near-best I would say.
And lindsay definitely has the better volleys, but Maria has the better serve (pre-surgery of course), better mentality, and she is a better mover. Maria could easily match Davenport off the ground as well. And Lindsay didn't win RG because she was slow, and her groundstrokes did nothing on the surface. Maria has found a way to move on clay, and she has develop a very effective clay game. And as for your little shade at the end, Maria would have beaten anybody during that tournament
