I totes dont care if she is inaccurate or not. Just another absolutely useless shit stirring anyway started by the OP and Matt Cronin.
Well the people who are discussing it in the thread do.
And you care enough about the thread and the argument existing that you felt the need to post several times in this thread and chastise others.
Matt Cronin is a hack and he's shown his lack of journalistic integrity when he shilled for the USTA by writing and article trying to blame Taylor Thompson's Iron deficiency for the USTA trying to bar her from playing the U.S Open.
Someone would have posted the article and quote, if not the OP then someone else and this discussion would have happened regardless. If Serena's name comes out of a famous tennis players mouth it will be news on TF.
and then posters coming here and insulting her and her injury that has nothing to do with her comments, then who looks more retarded?
Oh right, but you tell them who is the boss. You guys are so great. Really.
Most of the posters in the thread haven't insulted Dinara and the ones who didn't shouldn't be held responsible for the ones who did, that's there issue. Is the use of the word 'retarded' really necessary? They don't look good by bringing it up. Who are 'you guys'?
Was I one of the posters who insulted her? NO. I'll say it again (since the post where I said it initially was deleted because I quoted a post that used the term 'tard' by dsanders06) just because posters have a fave in common does not mean they are all the same or that the ones who behave one way are responsible for the ones who behave another way. I'm responsible for my posts and my comments not the comments of others. There are tens of thousands of registered posters on this site and several dozen regular posters in GM, to paint all or even most of them with a broad bush is wrong in my opinion. Do some posters from a particular fan base do things that offend others? Yes, but that doesn't mean you can make a broad statement and condemn every argument because a person happens to share a fave in common with posters you don't care for.
except everybody was so busy no one asked.
by google translate the question:
"- I will ask you to have the traditional question of women's tennis: who at the moment are more first racket of the world - Victoria Azarenka, which has more rating points, or Serena Williams, who won most of the major tennis tournaments of the season?"
Of course Matt Cronin's idiot self was only interested to wrote the answer in the tennis.com article.
How many people are going to go and find the original article and Google translate it? Most people are going to go by the article in the initial post and maybe another article posted later in the thread. It's great that you went and did the research.
It's good to know what her comment was in response to. Now with that knowledge it still doesn't make sense that she said what she did, because to me this part of her quote:
"Everyone has started to forget about the achievements of Vika, the same with Maria Sharapova, who won Roland Garros, after Serena Williams won gold and won the title at the US Open, and it is wrong. Let the younger Williams play a full season, and then we'll see who will be the No. 1.”
was what I took issue with. Serena has won more slams this year, the same amount of WTA events as Vika this year and a tournament (The Olympics) that many regarded as a 5th slam this year, beating Vika along the way three times and in the final of one and Maria twice and in the final of one, so that is why she has overshadowed them. Safina goes on to link that to the #1 ranking and says that Serena needs to "play a full season" which I felt was inaccurate even if you don't care about that. Maybe Dinara hasn't followed the tour much this year, which is fine, but her statement does not apply to 2012 Serena.
Shit stirring as you put it is basically what sports journalism is these days, add Serena's name into it and it will be a thread on TF without fail.
