Maria Sharapova Supports Grunting Ban

http://www.examiner.com/article/tenn...aria-sharapova
I am sure other players do too, but for some reason this article is focusing on Maria.

Bottom line is the right answer has been taken by the tour.

I started grunting since whenever I can remember. I see videos of myself and I've grunted for that long. Nobody told me to do it in Russia or in Florida. It's just a natural habit.

That's what she said. But NID that this thread will probably go something like 20 pages filled with the usual suspects.

That's a wank. I have no respect for the taking of that stance by her.

I wish there would be player who would stood up to WTA officials, banning grunting is ridiculous.

Makes sense. Sharapova's home country, the US, supports a ban of nuclear weapons ...

Yeah maybe the WTA will change it's name to the Association of Nice Demure Girls. Or the Ladies Church Socials Association.

Re: Maria Sharapova Supports Grunting Ban

What's wrong with it? She was taught to play tennis with grunting. Some boxers are punching also grunting , weightlifters are lifting also grunting etc..

Now WTA proposes a anti-grunting policy which will only affect young players. Young players will be taught to play tennis without grunting, shrieking etc. Why Sharapova shouldn't support it?

Re: Maria Sharapova Supports Grunting Ban

Players who grunt as the likes of Azarenka and Sharapova can't change it now. But new generations can. Anyway I'm against those people who think that grunting is cheating, for me grunting makes the game more interesting and more dramatic.

Re: Maria Sharapova Supports Grunting Ban

That source strives to be the Daily Mirror, it seems.

Anyway, I don't get Maria's remarks. They seem hypocritical. Anyway, seriously, they are going to start fining people or giving away points for grunting? If the men aren't going to do the same, I think such a ban is a great mistake.
