Would really like to see Donna win the title, but i think Begu might be a step too far. I hope I'm wrong though - I'd love to see Donna win here!

I have faith in Donna and I think she could do it, but she really needs to bring her A-game, because Irina is a wall and I've seen Donna has problems with patience at times.
I want Donna to win, but hey, I'm gonna' be happy with either player winning.

Same.

Begu seems to be playing well, but she's mentally brittle and may blink first if it gets tight. But I can't predict how this will go as I haven't seen Vekic play.

Maybe more importantly, Donna had to qualify here, so she's played three more matches than Begu this week. I'm worried that she might just be flat-out exhausted for the final, especially after going 3 sets with Birnerova today.

Donna trained intensively her physical condition in the past few months and I think it won't be a problem for her.

I don't think fitness will be an issue. Begu is a very solid, tour-level player with some experience in WTA finals. Donna will have to play like she did against Bojana or in the third set of the semis to have a chance.

ugh, why do they all suck????????

The list of runners up here is quite stellar, slam winners Azarenka and Schiavone are slam winners so some good omens for Donna even if she doesn't win it.

Go Donna!

The belief that man is an irresolute creature pulled this way and that by two forces of equal strength, alternately winning and losing the battle for his soul; the conviction that human life is nothing more than an uncertain struggle between heaven and hell; the faith in two opposed entities, Satan and Christ - all this was bound to engender those internal discords in which the mind, excited by the incessant fighting, stimulated as it were by the constant promises and threats, ends up by giving in and prostitutes itself to whichever of the two combatants has been more obstinate in its pursuit. Life isn't black and white, it's gold.

Re: WWW Tashkent Final and first WTA title? Vekic or Begu?

At this stage in their careers I'd say these two are actually quite similar in how they play. Both have above average serves and good power. Both hit aggressive very clean groundstrokes but neither go for stupid low percent winners. With both girls one sees their winners falling well inside the lines. The difference right is that at this stage of their careers Irina covers the court better and has quicker reactions. That of course is something that Donna has plenty of time to improve but for this match I think that could prove to be decisive.

I like both girls but I'd actually prefer Irina to win this match. Donna, is a great prospect, I think she has possibly more potential than anyone of her generation. I don't want to see that potential wasted.

I know a lot of posters would like to see another young phemon burning bright and zooming out the rankings crushing all before her, but I would rather think in the long term. This is a girl with a lot of talent but she still has a lot of work to do to reach the level she is capable of. I don't think she needs the attention or pressure that a title at this stage in her career would give her. Much better for her if she can just keep improving under the radar. I also think she would benefit with a few more months on the ITF circuit rather than being thrust onto the main tour right now.

Donna will obviously now be in the maindraw of the Australian Open. That's pretty cool. But in the meantime I think she would be better served by focus on continuing to develop her game and fitness than on winning matches. Next year will obviously be a very exciting one for her but I really hope she doesn't allow herself to burnout too fast.

Having said all this, from all accounts Donna does seem to have a pretty mature attitude and if she wins tomorrow good for her. But for me, I'm more interested in seeing her have a long accomplished career than I am seeing her have one or two big years as a teenagers and then fading away. Of course the two don't have to be exclusive and perhaps she can be the teen phenom who bucks the trend in recent years and goes on the have a great career. That would be fine. But for the moment, I personally don't feel she needs to rush up the ladder.

And to add to this it would be nice to see Irina get a title now, she's talented player and a win tomorrow would be a good sign her career is moving back in the right direction. Donna? She will get plenty of titles in the future, I'm pretty sure of that, so for her this is just the 1st of many, many opportunies.

English version:

Both play much the same and I like both, but Vekic winning may put her under too much pressure too early in her career, plus she'll have many other chances anyway, so I'd like it better if Begu wins.
