Rate the 2012 US Open

How would you rate this year's US Open overall. You can include mens if you like.

Overall i'd give it a 6. Didn't really do much for me. My faves didn't do well, and that took a lot away from it. There was nothing to remember really and the weather screwed a few things up.

It was an okay tournament, but nothing more

Re: Rate the 2012 US Open

women 9 (several great matches in the latter stages of the tournament, thrilling final)
men 6 (1st SF was unwatchable, 2nd SF had some very dubious decisions, rather poor quality of the final).
Overall I'll give it a 7.

Sexcellent

The belief that man is an irresolute creature pulled this way and that by two forces of equal strength, alternately winning and losing the battle for his soul; the conviction that human life is nothing more than an uncertain struggle between heaven and hell; the faith in two opposed entities, Satan and Christ - all this was bound to engender those internal discords in which the mind, excited by the incessant fighting, stimulated as it were by the constant promises and threats, ends up by giving in and prostitutes itself to whichever of the two combatants has been more obstinate in its pursuit. Life isn't black and white, it's gold.

Re: Rate the 2012 US Open

First time in a while I preferred the women's side over the men's. Lots of great 2nd week women's matches and the men's tourney was a mess.

Re: Rate the 2012 US Open

I gave 5 @ MTF, but maybe I should give more weight for women here and give 6, Vika's three last matches were exciting. Other than that a horrible tournament with poor scheduling and terribly slow court.

7

Snoozefest of a first week. Entertaining second. Besides any slam with Ana reaching the quarters is miraculous in my eyes

Re: Rate the 2012 US Open

a 7. USO has never particularly excited me for some reason more than the likes of AO and Wimby, but i guess i got to see some good tennis during last week so im reasonably satisfied

Re: Rate the 2012 US Open

the quality on the women's side was pretty good, but my favourites didn't do as well as i had hoped, so i'm not overtly happy.

this tournament sucked. all my faves fucked it up early, even fed. also the usual rain problems and stupid scheduling annoyed me.

Re: Rate the 2012 US Open

8.

The women were much more exciting this year and it wasn't as predictable as many recent events. And there were some great shockers and fantastic fights. Thank you Mariion, Vika, Maria, Sam, Laura and of course Serena. Good to see some seeds and wannabes exposed: Caro, Sabine, Angie, Kim, Petra, Aga

The men's didn't turn out to be predictable but was a mess and lacklustre and Novak really did give that final away.

The scheduling, rain and acceptance speeches were bummers though. Mary C really got bugger all from the finalists and failed to bring out much emotion, damping out the excitement.

Monica Seles Superstar. Her fans never forget.

Players I root for now: Heather, Laura, Lucie, Marion, Serena, Simona, Svetlana, Venus, Vika. And Caroline.
Doubles and Mixed Doubles are fun and underrated.
