Serena-Errani

I've been looking forward to this. I don't know if Errani's trickery can get her into this match, but it's got to be better than watching some baseline power player get her head handed to her.

Not blind. Not uninformed. We are party to atrocities. But the response of the world after 9/11 is worth noting. Even our most dire enemies offered aid. We should all be so lucky.

No

My prediction:

The belief that man is an irresolute creature pulled this way and that by two forces of equal strength, alternately winning and losing the battle for his soul; the conviction that human life is nothing more than an uncertain struggle between heaven and hell; the faith in two opposed entities, Satan and Christ - all this was bound to engender those internal discords in which the mind, excited by the incessant fighting, stimulated as it were by the constant promises and threats, ends up by giving in and prostitutes itself to whichever of the two combatants has been more obstinate in its pursuit. Life isn't black and white, it's gold.

This was a very good match. I remember watching it and Sara played well, but she had little chance once Serena got going.

She did not hold serve at all in set 2 and set 3. Generally speaking though, Serena/Errani matches are not as much of a blowout as people would expect.

Re: Serena-Errani

Serena should be able to tee off on Errani's serves (1st and 2nd). The way Serena is serving and returning, the points will be short so Errani won't be able to get into the match.

This. Errani's serve will probably sit up nicely for Serena, and no offence to Errani but she has no real weapons, so it's not like today with Ana where she can get a few games from her own game. She needs Serena to play poorly, and that is NOT happening.

Not?

6-4 6-3 (clay)
6-1 6-2 (hardcourt)
4-6 6-2 6-0 (hardcourt)

...and we all now Serena didnīt even care about any of these matches, because it was in the early rounds and Errani was a nobody back then.

Re: Serena-Errani

The problem with this is that Errani hasn't face someone that will tee her serves off. The way Serena is playing doubt this will be a contest.

Errani is short, too. That means even less reach on ROS. The only thing that could throw Serenaīs timing off for a few games is the extreme slowness of Erraniīs serve.

Re: Serena-Errani

Errani is going to junk the living hell out of Serena, and Serena will probably take a while to get the timing on Errani's serve. My guess is 7-5 6-0 or something along those lines.

Re: Serena-Errani

The outcome is not much in doubt. But would you rather see this? Or another 'Beatdown Down Down Under Part XII'

If Serena wins this tournament, I want them to fix the OZ draw so she plays seven straight junkballers. Get Conchi and Patty Schnyder out of retirement if you have too. I like Serena winning, since Venus isn't a threat to win slams anymore, but when it's 6-1, 6-3, and we're talking about 'Serena got tight', 'Serena was challenged' ....

Enough!

It's mostly, 'Serena got bored.'

I hated seeing her beat V or S, but I sure miss Justine Henin.

I want to enjoy Serena add titles. No one will ever talk about her easy draw(s)any more than they anyone cal recall cakewalks for Graf, Evert, Navratilova or Seles. After some of the bum raps she's gotten before, this would make up for the past.

Yea, all this shows me is that once Serena started treating this like a real match, it was over quickly. This was also pre-embolism Serena - The girl who didn't care as much for non-slam tournaments. I think she'll take Errani serious tomorrow & win comfortably.
