are mixed doubles unique in the world of sport?

is there any other sport where mixed teams play against each other? can't think of any other than badminton offhand. rowing maybe?

makes me think that instead of the constant men vs women, could serena beat a man, equal pay or not, instead of all that bickering we tennis fans should be celebrating a sport where something like xds are possible.

Re: are mixed doubles unique in the world of sport?

Not completely unique.

In Olympic sports, there's mixed doubles in badminton, and there will be the new mixed boat in the sailing in Rio (Nacra 17). All the equestrian events have both sexes of rider on an equal basis, so all the teams are mixed.

Table tennis has mixed, but not as an Olympics event (like tennis was until this year).

It surprises me that beach volleyball doesn't do mixed teams.

2. Maria Kirilenko
3. Anastasija Sevastova

biathlon- winter olympics mixed relay.

if you have nothing important to say, please do so in non-tennis forum. if you have something you think is important, but is actually rubbish regarding anything other than tennis - please do so in the non-tennis forum. if you have something tennis related to say, but it's actually "OMG, X player is so h0t!1" or "who has the biggest boobs on the wtatour" please do so in menstennisforum, under "wta forum". if you have something important, tennis-related and interesting to say please do so. No one in the world can understand how much tennis means to someone, except another fan.

Equestrianism is the only sport where men and women compete side by side against one another and the teams can be mixed for team events.

touch football may be even more marginal than korfball but it still counts as a sport that can have mixed teams.

As if we don't already have far too many swimming events. You could do mixed relays in athletics and cycling too, but they also have plenty of similar events already.

Mixed beach volleyball would be good though, as there is presently only one opportunity for anyone in the sport to win gold. You could also run a mixed pairs race in canoe slalom.

Mixed curling is becoming a thing, with world championships and such (yes, seriously... maybe only relevant to Canadians, Scots, and Scandinavians?)

Re: are mixed doubles unique in the world of sport?

I liked watching the mixed this week. It's rarely shown on TV. I loved watching the nervous looks on Laura Robson's face, playing with Andy Murray and hoping not to screw up -- Then the joy on her face when they pulled out a close match - and she held her end up. The sport is tough on women because the strategy is always to "hit it to the girl", thus the woman can either be the hero or the goat. The wrong kinda goat.
