I actually think moving Copenhagen and Paris Indoor to the weeks after Beijing is a good one, and there you have a legit European Indoor season.

I still don't understand why those clay MMs exist in july

Re: NEW SEWTA 2013 Calendar - Memphis Cancel, 4 New MM Including Cairo, Rio De Janeir

Paris will do fine. Only minority of players still playing 2nd week of AO. Only bad thing I can see those top10 players who committed to Paris will make SF/F of AO.
Charleston is a no-mans land nowadays, doesnt fit into north american HC, nor european clay season.
Pattaya and Kuala Lumpur should be back to back, FED cup useless anyway.
for Cairo just dig up the thread from last year.
and easy to just blame WTA, but nobody says anything about IMG, Octagon and such.

Hopefully the "TBD" of the first week will be Bali, although apparently Singapore wants a tournament too. Most likely it will be nothing though because they originally had that for 2012 . Hopefully the spring one will be Warsaw or Prague .

Soooo many US tournaments are disappearing .
maybe they will have 2 tournaments in Rio back to back

yes it would be great if there is a tournament in Bali / Singapore to start the year but I wonder how that would affect the entry list for Auckland and Hopman Cup

The quality and marketability of women's tennis is dependent on the quality of the players. It therefore makes good sense in the long term to promote the game in those countries where the game is widely played and which produce elite players. For every lucrative Premier tournament in a country that has no players ranked in the top 1000 (UAE, Qatar) there should be a WTA tournament in a poorer country that produces good players (Czech Republic, Serbia).

The main point is that WTA managed to (competely) disappear - delete the Indoor events. I can see Paris Indoors being canceled in next few seasons, with Moscow being the only big indoor event.

Not really happy with Memphis being cancelled, another indoor tournament is gone I hope at least Cairo will be on grass...if it will be.

Paris Indoors always gets a sizeable attendance and BNP Paribas sponsors.

Can't see the point in having Cairo on the calendar regardless on whether it's on grass or not. The heat in june is hardly ideal preparation for South London in June also I find it odd that they can't find another grass court tournament in Western Europe which is far more relevant. BTW I bet the Cairo tournament will be on clay.

new MM 1st week of season at the same time as Brisbane Premier / Auckland MM ... this may be Hong Kong finally getting a MM to replace the canceled Exho

Fed Cup 1R moved AFTER Paris / Pattaya MM (instead of before) so players playing Fed Cup cannot play Doha P5 Q

new MM in Rio De Janerio either same week as Bogota MM or same week as Acapulco MM / Kuala Lumpur MM of course it should be the 2nd option so there is a South America swing

Memphis MM canceled ... not a surprise given the poor field in 2012

Monterrey MM moved AFTER IW / Miami

new MM the same week of Estoril MM (in 2012 it was Budapest MM here) ... could this be the long awaited Belgrade MM

new Cairo MM the same week as Birmingham MM

and there is also a new version of the 2012 calendar but I don't know what the difference is from the last version

Most probably not. Actually I'm sure it's not
Monterrey after IW/Miami is actually a good call.
I'm excited about Cairo MM

the new 2012 calendar:

- doesn't have Marbella

- there's a little "^" thing for Washington indicating it's a saturday final.

- several tournaments (brussels, seoul, copenhagen) added title sponsors.
