Re: Will Venus Williams ever win a singles title at a Major again?

In my opinion YES! She could have won cincy this year if her back was in better shape, she has had time to regroup and get physically ready. I think she probably has a better chance if winning a slam this year than last 2 years, would love to see her pick up another wimbledon. However I think she, can actually have a good run in Australia this year. Age is no longer a MASSIVE factor in WTA Tennis. Will be interesting to see how the syjogren;s syndrome has been brought under control this season i.e. has she learnt to combat it even more

Good point. Seems as though as the Season progressed, she learned more and more how to play with it and, of course, Wimbledon was a dark moment. Other than that, she really improved and she also mentioned that it takes about a year before the medicines really kick in. It's been a year now and I think Venus is ready!

I believe we are on the verge of something totally outer worldly hardening in 2016!

Because she came back from a marathon QF where she was 3-5 down in the final set to beat Vinci in another very long match, less than 24 hours later. True, Mug was injured, but so was she.

It was impressive from a mental toughness/determination perspective, not so much outstanding tennis.

That said, I do not believe she has enough left to win a GS.

Re: Will Venus Williams ever win a singles title at a Major again?

It really depends on draws. Until Wuhan I wasn't convinced she had what it took to play 6 high level matches in a row with her illness and more injury prone body, but she has proved me wrong.

If she's going to grab one, it's at Wimbledon, and god knows those draws never hold firm. If she can keep away from the big hitters like Rena, Kvitova, Azarenka and Mug in the first week, she has a real chance. Of course it has to be next year, I can't see her winning Wimbledon in 2017 or later.

Venus would defeat Azarenka and Muguruza on grass, without a doubt.

Venus needs to get her ranking up to get better draws. Wuhan is a start. Qualifying for Singapore and getting more points there will be another. Set her up for a good Australian run.

Serena because she is her Sister and KVitova I get...

But Azarenka can barely handle Venus on hard court (Vika's best surface) and clay (Venus' worst surface) as evident by that horrible showing Venus had in Madrid this year and still made that 2nd set extremely tight! And how Venus had steamrolled through the first set in Doha before losing focus and Vika had to peak to win in 3

Re: Will Venus Williams ever win a singles title at a Major again?

I think you guys need to read 'first week' If Venus does win Wimbledon, I doubt she will do it steamrolling in all her matches. She'll probably start a little slow and pick up the pace. She just needs to avoid people like Azarenka and Mug (the latter who can peak on any given day) in the first week while she builds momentum. She could take them out if she had too, but I think it would be better in the long run if she avoided high ranked BBBs until the second week.

She should be a top 8 seed for Wimbledon, as she had a mediocre clay season she can build on. That will keep her from anyone dangerous for a while and really help her chances.

The big thing about getting a Top 8 seed at Wimby will be how she STARTS the year. A title + AO QF is a lot to defend right away. Clay season is hopeful, but she'll need to back up her strong start. Wish she'd had a better summer hardcourt series leading up to the USO
