All German final at RG 2012

Remember 2004 when all-Russian RG final kicked start the Russian waves? Before that touranment, many Russians had ascended to top 20 or even top 10 but few thought any of them will win a slam anytime soon. It can be said that the all-Russian final was a shock, and Myskina's winning was the sweetest in recent memory.

I see some similarity with the Germans this year. They are really making waves. Kerber, Barthel, Goerges, Petkovic, and Lisicki all have the ability to beat top-10 players on a good day. They are as good as the top 5 Russians at 2004 RG. Just like 2004, 2012 is also a transition year except that Serena is in good shape now.

How lovely would it be if it's a Kerber vs. Barthel final? I am seriously thinking of betting some money on it.

Kerber will go deep.
The rest, without Petkovic of course, will not make it past the 4r.

Re: All German final at RG 2012

hmmm....I wish them all well but the odds are trivial.

With Petko being injured, Angie Kerber is the only good player Germany has at the moment.

Gorges and Lisicki can (and should) be out of Top 30 soon

Mona has had some moderate success as a new comer, but it will get tougher for her as players have started to figure out her game.

Aga Angelika Caro Simona Vika

Görges won't be out of the top 30 soon, she's at #13 in the race.

Re: All German final at RG 2012

My prediction:

RG/2012 Final: J.Goerges(GER)/S.Lisicki(GER) def. A.Kerber(GER)/A.L.Groenefeld(GER) 7-5 6-3

and I'm not even fan of Ana Ivanovic... just an objective observer who realize how perfect she is

AMAZING BELGRADE MIRACLE: In just three years (2008-2011) 5 different players born in same city reach world #1 in rankings and several GS titles and finals (WTA singles: Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic, ATP singles: Novak Djokovic, ATP doubles: Nenad Zimonjic and Daniel Nestor... with notable performances of Bojana Jovanovski, Janko Tipsarevic and Viktor Troicki which is also all three born in Belgrade)
