Vika Azarenka have more "retirements when lead" than rest of TOP20 all together!

Here is bizarre list of Victoria Azarenka career retirements so far:
Code:
2006	75K	Pittsburgh	F	A. Wozniak	V. Azarenka 6-2 ret.
2007	T3	Hobart QR2	E. Gagliardi	V. Azarenka 6-3 5-2 ret.
2007	T3	Prague SF	A. Morigami	V. Azarenka 6-3 4-5 ret.
2008	T3	Hobart R1	O. Govortsova	V. Azarenka 1-3 ret.
2008	T1	Rome R3	T. Pironkova	V. Azarenka 6-2 1-0 ret.
2008	T2	Eastbourne	R1	A. Rezai	V. Azarenka 6-2 ret.
2008	T2	Zurich QF	A.M. Garrigues	V. Azarenka 4-6 6-3 ret.
2009	GS	Australian Open	R4	S. Williams	V. Azarenka 3-6 4-2 ret.
2009	YEC	Tour Champ.	RR	A. Radwanska	V. Azarenka 4-6 7-5 4-1 ret.
2010	Intl	Marbella	QF	M.J.M. Sanchez	V. Azarenka 0-4 ret.
2010	Prmr	Charleston	R2	C. McHale	V. Azarenka 2-6 2-2 ret.
2010	PM	Madrid R1	S. Peng V. Azarenka 3-0 ret.
2010	P5	Montreal	SF	V. Zvonareva	V. Azarenka 7-6(6) 1-0 ret.
2010	GS	US Open R2	G. Dulko	V. Azarenka 5-1 ret.
2010	PM	Beijing R2	T. Bacsinszky	V. Azarenka 4-6 3-2 ret.
2011	PM	Indian Wells	QF	C. Wozniacki	V. Azarenka 3-0 ret.
2011	Prmr	Stuttgart	R2	J. Goerges	V. Azarenka 4-6 ret.
2011	P5	Rome QF	M. Sharapova	V. Azarenka 4-6 3-0 ret.
2011	Prmr	Eastbourne	QF	M. Bartoli	V. Azarenka 6-2 2-0 ret.
She is on good road to overtake by number of retirements some older players well known about this issue (Bartoli, Jankovic, Petrova). But number of retirements and theirs frequency is actually not subject of this thread. Subject of this thread is an irrational fact that since 2008 out of all 16 hers retirements during matches - 7 times that is happen at the moment when she lead in that match!!! If You don't have feeling how strange this is - I check for You same this numbers about all other WTA players currently into TOP20 (Sharapova, A.Radwanska, Kvitova, Stosur, S.Williams, Bartoli, Wozniacki, Li, Zvonareva, Kerber, Petkovic, Lisicki, Schiavone, Ivanovic, Kirilenko, Cibulkova, Hantuchova, Vinci and Jankovic) and believe or not, they all together during theirs whole careers collected less retirements during matches when they is in leading position than Victoria Azarenka alone in just four years! Also it's interesting that in all this 7 cases (except after AO/2009 retirement vs Serena) she played next tournament already one or two weeks later!?

Here is list of "retirement when lead" matches of all other currently TOP20 players:
Code:
2006	T1	Berlin R1	N. Li A. Ivanovic 1-6 ret.
2007	T1	Zurich QF	T. Golovin	M. Bartoli 4-5 ret.
2009	Intl	Luxembourg R1	A. Kremer	C. Wozniacki 5-7 0-5 ret.
2010	Prmr	Eastbourne R1	E. Baltacha	N. Li 6-7(6) ret.
2011	Intl	Bastad R2	S. Arvidsson	C. Wozniacki 2-6 1-0 ret.
2011	P5	Toronto R1	I. Benesova	D. Cibulkova 7-5 4-6 1-3 ret.
FOOTNOTE: For all this stats I use kworb's WTA match-finder which has all WTA tour matches between 1981-2011, so current 2012 season is not included!

So what do You thinking about all this strange numbers? Amazing coincidence, or You have some own conspiracy theory which will explain this?

and I'm not even fan of Ana Ivanovic... just an objective observer who realize how perfect she is

AMAZING BELGRADE MIRACLE: In just three years (2008-2011) 5 different players born in same city reach world #1 in rankings and several GS titles and finals (WTA singles: Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic, ATP singles: Novak Djokovic, ATP doubles: Nenad Zimonjic and Daniel Nestor... with notable performances of Bojana Jovanovski, Janko Tipsarevic and Viktor Troicki which is also all three born in Belgrade)

Re: Strange thing about Victoria Azarenka retirements

Ok, I love an excuse to rag on Azarenka for her retirements as much as the next person, but whatever point you have is far too convoluted for me to bother this time

But it must be a GIANT coincidence when 22 years old have more retirements when lead than rest of TOP20 all together (and only three of them are younger than Vika).

She retires 4-5 matches a year.
sounds quite often.

Tactical decisions, it seems. Just like Serena.

She used to retire whenever she felt slight pain somewhere, Lisicki style. Except Lisicki rarely leads in her matches, hence she doesn't have Vuvurenka's record.
