What's the lowest first serve percentage in a set?

Recently a player served 27% in first serves in a set - which she won anyway. I'm shocked. Is that percentage not as nuts as it seems to me? Can anyone come up with a lower one?

Edit: People please - this is NOT a thread to give idjits an excuse to bash anyone. There are threads about most UEs that don't go there.

Mulder: "So you're agreeing with me?"
Scully "No! You're bat-crap crazy."

BTW To those who like to twist everything to fit their defensive mindset - the player was my first fave and she's still very much among my faves.

Is there any particular reason why you start threads like this instead of going to the WTA website and looking these things up?

Lets stick to the question posed in the first post.

Re: What's the lowest first serve percentage in a set?

Most notable WTA match is from US Open 2007 (qualification round) between Marie-Eve Pelletier vs Selma Sfar 1-0 *15-00 ret. where both players WHOLE MATCH finished with 0% (zero percent) first serve in!

and I'm not even fan of Ana Ivanovic... just an objective observer who realize how perfect she is

AMAZING BELGRADE MIRACLE: In just three years (2008-2011) 5 different players born in same city reach world #1 in rankings and several GS titles and finals (WTA singles: Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic, ATP singles: Novak Djokovic, ATP doubles: Nenad Zimonjic and Daniel Nestor... with notable performances of Bojana Jovanovski, Janko Tipsarevic and Viktor Troicki which is also all three born in Belgrade)

The reason is that I don't know and, since I'd like to know, I'm asking.

Who made you arbitrator of what stats people can inquire about?

Seriously???? C'mon, are you sure? Not even 1 first serve in for an entire match? That's beyond crazy! Is there a source for that stat?

Re: What's the lowest first serve percentage in a set?

Maria Amorin double faulted away a whole first set at Wimbledon in 1957. She served up 17 double faults in a row.

So the answer would be zero percent if you are going back far enough in time.

^ I'm not saying it isn't so, but it's very tough to believe.

That's what you call "aggressive serving", I suppose.

Re: What's the lowest first serve percentage in a set?

Schiavone has played a few recent-ish matches where her first serve percentage has hovered around the 30% mark.

I'm guessing Parra Santonja is another.

I agree, but it's actually verified in the Guiness Book of World Records, and more importantly to my mind, Lance Tingay in his excellent book Guiness Book of Tennis Facts and Figures, published in about 1983.

If it was a 2012 match I'd say so, but the story goes that it was just a case of Wimbledon nerves!
