What has triggered success for Serena after Miami ?

There were rumours that she switched to different strings after Miami. Is it really true ?
Because ever since Charleston she's been playing effortlessly.
Something has changed for the best but I'm not quite sure what it is. You can even see it in her eyes.

Re: What has triggered success for Serena after Miami ?

Well, I think she wants to prove herself on clay. So she worked on playing a better clay game.

Perhaps she slightly underestimated Woz's resolve in Miami, too.

Anyway, I think she wants to win RG. If she had beaten Sveta that one year at RG (2010?), it could have been interesting.

The string change is overrated. She was playing with those new strings in Miami BTW.

Only thing that happened after Miami is that she had a reality check, and started moving her feet.

She did switch strings. but Serena did say that nowadays she was driving on personal goals she wants to reach before certain tournaments. She wanted to be number 6 going into RG. So I think that was the main difference. I think she really wanted to reach that goal badly and made sure she wouldn't fail. She did the same last year when she said she wanted to be seeded at the Open. Those goals may look stupid but it seems like when the goals are based on rankings rather than tournament victories, she's giving herself margin for error and letting her game flow.

OH OH! Bad souvenir. I remember like choking in class in front of livescores. She was up 4-2 and she lost Choknetsova

She got sick of losing. She says that's what spurred her 2001-2003 run. You can clearly see it. She wants #1 and she wants more slams. She also wants another RG title and I think this, of all, is what is encouraging her.

Cuz she broke up with Grigor?

But seriously yes, I think she wants to prove herself on clay. And she wants to double her RG title.

Her lack of success before Miami this year triggers her success after Miami.

Losing to Caro was a wake up call.

Like losing in pre-warm up tournament before Sydney in year past.

She didn't officially make the change until Charleston

You can TOTALLY see the difference in the cross strings:

Career Grand Slam in your 20s? Been there done that. Career golden slam your 30s?
There's only 1.
Serena.
