Exclamation Fall Cometh Matches: Which match was the beginning of the slow grueling end...

For any player. Well, the ones that have had one. List opponents, scores, why you think it was their Fall Cometh match, and where they are now.

For Ana it was USO '08 VS Coin obviously. Worst loss for a #1 in a slam at the time (not sure if it still is).

Hingis:

I was going to write the 02 F match that never happened too but you were quicker

That for Martina was the beginning of the end for her

I always thought that it was RG final. : She started slumping immediately after that.

Nope, that Chinese girl beating Safina is a worse loss for No1 ranked player. She was like 230. in the world, while Coin was 188.

And Ana's "fall" began with her RG final match, after that everythin went downhill

JJ

AO 2009, R4 loss to Marion. F*** the offseason after 08.

I cheer on scrubs.

Re: Fall Cometh Matches: Which match was the beginning of the slow grueling end...

I'd say the defeat to Petkovic in Miami really kickstarted Caro's slump last year. Before that, she was actually doing a pretty good job of being the number 1 (wins in IW, Beijing, Tokyo, Dubai, Finals of YEC, Doha, SF at AO) and only really losing to top players. (Kim, Li, post-shitfest Vera)...

Her career isn't in intensive care though, she's still got time to improve, so it's not quite the same as other examples.

* 2008 * 2012 * Maria Sharapova * 2004 * 2006 *
* Ivanovic * Watson * BMS * Gavrilova * Voskoboeva * Robson * Kvitova * Mladenovic * Lisicki * FutureGoat Konjuh

Elena Baltacha. Never forgotten.

Ivanovic's "win" against Dechy at Wimbledon 2008.

A single flow'r he sent me, since we met./All tenderly his messenger he chose;
Deep-hearted, pure, with scented dew still wet - One perfect rose.
I knew the language of the floweret;/'My fragile leaves,' it said, 'his heart enclose.'
Love long has taken for his amulet/One perfect rose.
Why is it no one ever sent me yet/One perfect limousine, do you suppose?
Ah no, it's always just my luck to get/One perfect rose.

Only tennis things considered here, but Chak losing to Kirilenko at the 08 AO

And the dish ran away with the spoon..
but Hawaii was the only state that would recognize the marriage as legal.

Myskina's lost to Henin at the 04 Olympics was the fall for her IMO
