What ranking will Radwanska peak at?

Aga's currently at her highest ever ranking of #5.

She started the year off strong and can gain points later on in the year as well, especially from weak showings at USO and Wimbledon.

I cheer on scrubs.

I would say around 4. Because all three players above her are heading into their favorite parts of the season. Clay doesn't favor her game nor does grass, it's too fast for her. Vika would have to totally implode for her to lose her number one ranking this year.

Somewhere in the top 3. I don't think she'll get to #1 though.

She should be #3 at some point this year (presumably after Wimbledon), maybe even #2 if she's lucky. Year end ranking is anyone's guess, could be comfortably somewhere in top 5, could be #10. Who knows?

Really? Her results on grass say the opposite.

As for the poll, I think she can totally make it to #3, but beyond that, in my opinion, is next to impossible given her abilities.

I'm hoping she gets to #1 without making a Slam semifinal, so that we perhaps FINALLY get the tipping point where the WTA finally change the ranking system.

She'd have to get QFs in all 4 Slams and take home some big trophies to do that.

And she's a junior champ in Wimbledon and made her first QF there, I believe, so there's no reason she can't do well if her volleys and BH are on.

I cheer on scrubs.

Re: What ranking will Radwanska peak at?

Grass is the only surface where I can see Radwanska's game being something of a threat to the top players. Posters on here have rightly pointed out that her weight of shot is pathetic, but I do actually think the raw pace on her shots is a little bit underrated, and on grass the low bounce means her groundstrokes do skim through deceptively quickly (whereas on other surfaces where her shots lose so much pace after the bounce, it gets a lot easier for players to get their racquet on her shots and to redirect them and do pretty much anything they want with them because they're so lightweight). Plus her low centre of gravity means she should be an even better defender relative to the rest of the field on grass than on other surfaces.

One of the only times she's genuinely impressed me is her Wimbledon quarterfinal against Venus back in 2009 (the scoreline makes it look like a beatdown, but it was actually more competitive than the scoreline indicates and Radwanska actually managed to dictate more rallies than you'd expect - no mean feat when you consider Venus was in GOAT grasscourt form at that tournament before the final).
