Re: Arantxa Sánchez Vicario tells in her autobiography how her parents left her broke

but why is she not on speaking terms with her brothers? I mean, I understand she is mad at her parents as they wasted ASV's money away, but what about her brothers? Did they have access to this money and participated in bankrupting ASV? Maybe we are just hearing one side of the story?

Wow, poor ASV. I really hope there is an English version of this book as I would love to read more about her story. I can't believe that almost all of her nearly 60 million fortune is gone

Shame about all her family troubles but this reeks of desperation to make a quick buck so who knows how much of this is real and how much is just to make an interesting read.

And here you are, a black unicorn.
Mythical and mystical since the day that you were born.

It does sound juicy Maybe if the book sells well it will be made into a movie starring Sofia Vergara as ASV

how do you let your parents lose 59 million dollars?

This doesn't add up at all.

Re: Arantxa Sánchez Vicario tells in her autobiography how her parents left her broke

What a sad story! I used to love Arantxa!

I hope I can get this book on Amazon as I have a voucher. Of course, it is only Arantxa's side of the story but she must have evidence to back up what she is saying. Is she accusing her family of fraud? Clearly they completely misjudged the whole Andorra question which left her with a terrible tax bill, but it sounds like she was systematically ripped off over a long period of time from those quotes. Maybe it was something that only emerged when lawyers/accountants took a fine tooth comb to Arantxa's finances during the tax case. I can imagine that with Arantxa concentrating solely on her tennis, it could have been that she left too much of the financial stuff to her parents and only discovered too late, presumably once she retired, that they had been skimming off all her winnings. But then again, who would expect their own parents to steal from them, that is pretty unheard of...

You do wonder at some tennis parents, the whole issue of who is provider is totally skewed, it seems so wrong for parents to depend financially on the children, but this is what happens, but to use them as some sort of milch-cow and then leave them bankrupt is just appalling. It's horrible to think that Marisa, who seemed so caring courtside, may only have been worried about the money. Maybe someone had gambling issues or something. I am sure we will find out in due course. The fact that she has fallen out with her brothers makes you wonder whether the Sanchez-Casal academy was financed to Arantxa's disadvantage...

If the book is this frank, hopefully it will have some juicy items about other players eg Graf, the Seles stabbing, her rivalry with Conchita Martinez in Spain. Referring back to a previous poster's comments about Venus Williams, wasn't that the general view when Venus arrived on the scene? I remember reading at the time that Monica Seles was not too pleased when Venus blanked her when she was trying to say hello, and it is obvious that similar behaviour was behind the Irina Spirlea incident and the 'She thinks she's the Venus Williams' comment.

Exactly!! She was an adult, why wasn't she writing her own checks?

We both know it's not that simple. She might have entrusted them and thought everything was fine until finding out later.

No one should jump to conclusions - yet.

Yikes!! She was commentating at Charleston a few years ago and singing Serena'a praises, so I don't think she'll trash Serena for purportedly beaning her in the head at the French. She seemed like she had a lot of respect for Steffi and Monica. I suspect some dirt, but not trashing anyone.

Steamy lesbian stories sell, true or made-up, I hope there some hot stuff in the book.
