US Open winners without dropping a set

US Open Champions who did not drop a set (Open Era)

1.Martina Navratilova

2.Chris Evert

3.Monica Seles (1992)

4.Steffi Graf (1996)

5.Martina Hingis (1997)

6.Lindsay Davenport (1998)

7.Venus Williams (2001)

8.Serena Williams (2002)

From 1968-1995, only 3 women won the title without dropping a set. From 1996-2002 5 women won the title in the 7 years it was contested without dropping a set.

What makes it even stranger is that the depth in the Tour had been greatest from 1998-onwards.

P.S: I don't know which years Chris and Martina.N won without dropping a set and how many times they did it, but they were the first two, before Monica.

FUCK YOU, SEWTA.

Who do you think has won the U.S. Open by dropping the MOST number of sets, or MOST games? I thought Serena looked invincible in '99, but if you think about it, she was dropping sets back and forth, to Kim, Conchita, Monica, and Lindsay. I wonder who holds that record? I do not have the memory or database to come up with who it was, however.

steffi played bad in 96, I kept wondering how she achieved it not to lose a set

In the middle of the night
I go walking in my sleep
Through the desert of the truth
To the river so deep
We all end in the ocean
We all start in the streams
We're all carried along
By the river of dreams
In the middle of the night

Monica had the flu and a cold in 92, I kept wondering how she won the Open without dropping a set.
