Players you've fallen in love with after they retired?

Yeah it's not very common but it happens. For me it's definately Mary Pierce

u?

The belief that man is an irresolute creature pulled this way and that by two forces of equal strength, alternately winning and losing the battle for his soul; the conviction that human life is nothing more than an uncertain struggle between heaven and hell; the faith in two opposed entities, Satan and Christ - all this was bound to engender those internal discords in which the mind, excited by the incessant fighting, stimulated as it were by the constant promises and threats, ends up by giving in and prostitutes itself to whichever of the two combatants has been more obstinate in its pursuit. Life isn't black and white, it's gold.

Henin after her 2nd retirement. I watch YT highlights of her matches although not any of her wins against Serena.

Fallen in love? none. But there are players that I disliked when they were playing, that I can look back on now and admire, like the aforementioned Justine. Also Hingis, Capriati kinda though a part of me will always loathe her. A big part.

Hingis and Dementieva.

Hingis for her genius play. Dementieva for her athleticism.

Re: Players you've fallen in love with after they retired?

I can't imagine this happening to me in tennis. For me to become a fan of a tennis player they have to be active. If I am a fan of them while they are active I will of course still like them when they retire but I just can't see myself starting to like a player after they retire.

This does happen to me a lot however in music, I have over the years become a fan of many artists and bands after they stopped recording (or even after they died) over the years I've been listening to music. Many many many.

Pierce and Seles but I don't think they count because I wasn't a tennis fan when they were active. I'm sure I would have supported them if I was into tennis when they were playing.

Hlavackova, Strycova, Venus, Serena, Schiavone, Hradecka, Safarova, Cetkovska, Pliskova, Kasatkina, Putintseva, Ostapenko, Gasparyan

Dammit, why didn't I think of that? All the stress, heartbreak and tears I could have avoided...it was the damn bangs.
