Kvitova will win both Player of the Year Awards (WTA and ITF)

I feel very confident in predicting Kvitova will win both the WTA and ITF Player of the Year Awards regardless of the outcome of the WTA Championships final.

They have to give one of them to Wozniacki, even if she doesn't deserve it at all.

She's a shoo-in for the WTA one, no doubt about it.

Not sure about the ITF one... they didn't give it to Kim last year, and I don't see that Petra has had a stronger season than Kim had last year They certainly SHOULD give it to Petra seeing as she has been near-unanimously declared the Real #1, though.

I totally disagree. Davenport didnt win an award in 2005, and Hingis didnt in 2001. They dont have to give an award to Wozniacki and I will be shocked if they do.

Hope so, but doubt it.

The ITF one seemed always go to the number one in WTA ranking which is strange b/c ITF has to value Grandslam results more...

It does seem strange that the WTA award favors winning ITF majors
ITF award favors WTA rankings

They gave their Player of the Year Awards to 4 non number one players in the last ten years

Kvitova will get only one.

Shows even the WTA know in their heart of hearts how out of step with reality the ranking system is

Re: Kvitova will win both Player of the Year Awards (WTA and ITF)

Kvitova should get both, if she wins tomorrow. She'll then be Wimbledon champion, YEC champion, 6 titles, and would be sitting just shy of Pushniacki numerically for #1. No brainer.

Maria "The Shady Lady" Sharapova
Eugenie "Call My Lawyer" Bouchard
Agnieszka "Fan Favorite" Radwańska
Svetlana "She's A High Fem" Kuznetsova

Just like Kim last year. US champ, Masters champ, Miami champ, etc... and still Wozniacki player of the year. There's no such thing as no brainer when it comes to women's tennis.

Re: Kvitova will win both Player of the Year Awards (WTA and ITF)

Wozniacki the last 6-7 months has been a complete embarassment for a #1 ranked player. Not just in the Slams but on the regular tour as well. I will be quite surprised if she wins either award this year. If Kvitova wins the WTA Championship final and does not win both I will be even more shocked.

Great Jinx thread. Not watch Petra lose something like 6-1 6-1 tomorrow.

Were not you the one predicting Sharapova being on her way to finish number one before the Usopen? yeah.. you were..
