Mods please delete the other thread. This thread is the real one.

Anyway, this definitely deserves a " ". Really hilarious stuff. The key is that Azarenka never lets Stosur see an off forehand in her life. She's totally able to pin her on the backhand side with wide cross-court, and then Sam's forehand isn't really good when she has to hit it from a cross-court position. This is largely due to Aza's court positioning very close to the baseline, her ability to take the ball very early AND direct it to where she wants and the relatively flat strokes - all of those factors rob Stosur from time to run around the backhand. And of course she bullets the serve back to the back hand side easily. Slices against her are useless, unlike with Maria, cause she has better footwork and she can redirect them in her sleep back to the backhand.

What Sam should have done is anticipate much better. You could tell 9/10 where the ball was going: backhand. She needs to anticipate before and run around to try to hit the off forehand. Steffi used to do that. Another crucial thing: the backhand cross-court slice. It's just not a good enough. With a good, angled, cross-court backhand slice, she will force Azarenka to hit up and most importantly stop her from finding the backhand again. But Stosur's slice isn't good enough. Most of them were going centrally, which means Aza can still easily hit back to the backhand corner. If she wants to change that matchup, she needs to work on those two aspects, and it could turn around.

Now make it to the SF or even the F PID, and get trashed by Petra like usual. PID's serve looks like a mess, and her groundies will set up so easily for Kvitty. SHe might have purchased an Australian punch bag today, but she'll soon make a much better Belarusian punchbag.

I dont think so. She is jus 2-3 against Petra. She took a set off of her even at Petra's best surface. I think Vika will stop the loosing streak here
