Cinci Women's SF Andrea P tweaks knee

Pam Shriver just reported during the Berdych/Djokovic match that Andrea Petkovic thought she had an ACL issue with her knee again, and so had an MRI. She worried (and cried all night) that she would have to give a walkover. However, turns out that it is just a tweak(Pam talked to her). So...could be an odd semifinal tonight.

Probably not threadworthy, but just a little something to watch for tonight.

Could turn out to be very important with the USO so close

Pam Shriver: Andrea Petkovic MRI reveals she has a slight tear in her menisucs (knee), will still play tonight.

The most wasted of all days is one without laughter....

Re: Cinci Women's SF Andrea P tweaks knee

I want her to play. Too many retirements/withdrawals as of late. However... I also want her to play smart. Withdrawing might be the best idea for now... I just don't like the idea of this tear.

I think it is odd to play just before USO with a potential issue, but I guess she thinks she has a good chance to get to this final.

Re: Cinci Women's SF Andrea P tweaks knee

Do we have a credible source for that or just Pam Shriver?

- Caroline Wozniacki has never beaten a reigning world #1.
- Caroline Wozniacki has never beaten a top 5 player at a major.
- Caroline Wozniacki has not beaten a top 3 player en route to any of her 23 titles.
- Caroline Wozniacki has beaten two top 5 players en route to her 23 titles (#4 Zvonareva and #5 Schiavone)

-Her fans think she had very bad luck with her Grand Slam and Regular Tour draws.

Can you imagine if Andrea does withdraw or retire and then a similar thing happens in the final?

I wonder if anyone has ever won a tournament w/3 walkovers/retirements in a row?

Venus Ana Caro Sloane
Timea Aga Masha Bencic Keys Nicole Dani
Sania Vika Petko Simona Broady Robi CiCi Mladenovic Garcia JJ Errani Duval

Martina Hingis Forever!!!

I get what you are saying, but Pam Shriver is a credible as it gets. The information about the tear, came from her talking to Andrea. So yes... That's the only source. Very credible, though. She wouldn't lie on camera so blatantly.

Oh there is no doubt she tweaked it a bit. It happened during her match with Petrova (around 5-5 in the first set) and she asked for the trainer immediately, but then waived the trainer off, because she felt fine. So add a MRI, a night full of tears, and you have a much better story. I can´t believe she´d play with a small tear, if there is a chance of aggravation, a week before the US Open.

Are you calling her a drama queen? Because she did say a night full of tears, which I suppose is based on her remembrance of her previous injury. Anyway, she probably is worried about it.

Let's just hope Jelena didn't hear about it and plays passive, waiting for AP's errors.
