Almost happened in Sea Island Although Masha probably would have schooled Anna at that point in Anna's career. Her second last tournament ever.

Re: US Open "Dream Matches" as selected by the Press

Only 1 mention for Graf compared to 3 for Serena.

My pick: Serena v Navratilova. And let's back that up with Williams/Williams v Navratilova/Shriver in doubles.

These are the standard setters.

Light of the Seven: Himalayas, Gobi, Baikal, Taiga, Steppe, Reef, Aurora

not too surprising. Venus was insane in the 2000-2001 period, and the clear #2 in 2002 when they played most of their matches. Monica was still an awesome player, but out of shape. She couldn't compete against Venus' court coverage with her own limited mobility. Was just a bad matchup.

Maria AO 2008 vs. any version of anybody of any era of any sex and any format best of 3 or 5 sets. Her incredible greatness would forever outshine the lesser players.

Genie - Victoria - Kristina.

True enough, but the more you do it, the better you are at it. By the way, Martina won 41 doubles majors.

Again, WHEN this hypothetical match would take place makes a huge difference. When Martina was in her prime, a lot more tournaments were played on natural surfaces, and slices don't bounce as high on grass and clay as they do on hard courts.

I disagree. I think Martina would smoke Justine, because outside of the drive backhand, I can't think of a shot Justine can hit that Martina couldn't hit better.

1. Non-wooden raquets were available in the late 60s. If players

chose to use wood thats on them. Martina herself switched to Fiberglass

in 74 ( Spalding Speedshaft and Yonex Carbonex2 ) and Graphite in 82

( Yonex R-7 ) so thats not an issue.

And I fail to see why so many people think that Serena

with her athleticism and abilities could not excel with a wooden stick.

Serena has hit 128mph which is 1 mph less than the record. Serena hits

with a smaller raquethead than most and uses natural gut.

She would do fine with wood.

Now see, this is one of those times where you're not being serious. You're just looking to see if anyone will take you seriously and start a fight.

First of all, the graphite racquets of 1982 aren't nearly as powerful as the racquets of today, as I'm sure you know. Secondly, Serena's racquet, the 104 square-inch Wilson BLX Blade Team, is bigger than what every player ranked ahead of her is currently using. Thirdly, if a 49-year-old Martina Navratilova could reach 105 on the radar gun with a modern racquet, as she did in 2006, what do you think a 29-year-old Navratilova would do under similar circumstances?

Graf-Connolly, Henin-Goolagong would be glorious.

LOL@Tracy trying to get an easy win.

Love the Tilden mention too. The Original Tennis Homo vs The King of Flamboyant.

I would love to see 07 Henin against pretty much anyone.

Deep-hearted, pure, with scented dew still wet - One perfect rose.
I knew the language of the floweret;/'My fragile leaves,' it said, 'his heart enclose.'
Love long has taken for his amulet/One perfect rose.
Why is it no one ever sent me yet/One perfect limousine, do you suppose?
Ah no, it's always just my luck to get/One perfect rose.
