I'm not buying Barbat's story one bit

me, neither. it also seems to speak volumes that she only writes about "the girl", not using tamaela's name.

There are (literally) a dozen of witnesses who all have seen (and some even testified at the police station, incl. the referee) what happened. The hospital has given an official statement of Elise being injured. Even Karen has confessed to the press that her father hit Elise.

If I was such a low life as he is, things would have gotten out of hand right now. But he's lucky that we want to solve this in a decent way: in court if it's necessary. No need to get all physical like he did.

Just can't express how I feel right now... This must be one of the strangest weeks in my life, let alone Elise's... It's an upside down world...
OMG This is ridiculous, how long did it take him to respond with that bullshit? If he had nothing to be ashamed of he wouldn't have fled!!! I'm sorry but it would take more than a self defence movement to protect your face to cause a concussion that severe.

Unfortunately, Karen Barbat backs up her father's BS story 100%. In a blog entry, she wrote that she didn't confirm that her father hit Elise after all. She was saying to the journalist that he may have reacted in an unfortunate way in self-defence but that it was Elise who went up to him, yelled at him and started hitting him

http://www.tennissporten.dk/pages/po...t-her-4097.php (in Danish)

If you want, I can translate her blog entry tomorrow.
It's sad that she has to be involved in this, i can't really imagine her taking side against his father since she's been through so much already with him and hasn't left him yet. Once again a proof of a crazy Tennis daddy where his daughter can't seem to go.

Re: Elise Tamaela knocked out and put on a drip by opponent's father

It's just crazy that they are pressing charges against Elise and saying that Elise hit him first So many witnesses confirmed that mr. Barbat started hitting first, Elise didn't had a chance.

I really doubt he gets away with it, but if somehow the tennis associations(whatever their names are) let him, then fans should boycott any tournament Barbat plays in the future.
I was just thinking about Seles. She was stabbed in the back in Germany, virtually on TV, and the guy went free.

Duuuuhhh Tamaela hit mr. Barbat in his elbow with her head

The belief that man is an irresolute creature pulled this way and that by two forces of equal strength, alternately winning and losing the battle for his soul; the conviction that human life is nothing more than an uncertain struggle between heaven and hell; the faith in two opposed entities, Satan and Christ - all this was bound to engender those internal discords in which the mind, excited by the incessant fighting, stimulated as it were by the constant promises and threats, ends up by giving in and prostitutes itself to whichever of the two combatants has been more obstinate in its pursuit. Life isn't black and white, it's gold.

@DailyForehand

Concussion that Mihai Barbat caused Elise Tamaela not only knocked her out that week, it's also keeping her out of the Dutch championships.

Some consolation, but I expect Barbat fans to ignore it like they did with my question in her thread last week
