Ana's frame is not meant to be that thin and NO I don't need to know her personally to think or say that she looks anorexic. Anorexia is about having control over something when other things in your life seem to be out of your control. I think she is "teetering on the fence" and leaning towards anorexia.

Agreed. That picture of Hantuchova......... she must have been suffering from anorexia at that time. I remember her being skinny but my god, her eyes look very hollow and lifeless there. No wonder she never really fulfilled her potential.... she had to fight her opponents and her eating disorder at the same time....

I really think that the similarity between Ivanovic and Hantuchova is that their "weaknesses" are both movement. I no doubt believe that both women got it in their heads that lighter=faster and simply took/are taking it too far.

Thankfully Hantuchova recovered but I cant help but think it had an impact on her career direction. Hopefully Ivanovic wont let it get any worse.... she admittedly has a long way to go before she starts looking like Hantuchova circa 2003.

there are other sports such as wrestling, horse racing , diving, even boxing, gymnastic with constant pressure to "make weight" . In these sports, athletes are very adept to hide their eating disorders because they have been doing it for long.

this is new to tennis, we don,t have weight requirement, therefore no one has developed a way to hide eating disorders.

The whole point of Ana's weight loss was to get her faster. Now she's lost a lot of her power and I don't think the weight loss has actually made her that much speedier. She needs to add some mass to her frame to become a better athlete.

Anorexia is not the only eating disorder. Amanda Beard, the Olympic winning swimmer, said she suffered from bulimia for years, including during the time she posed for Playboy.

Zina Garrison was also bulimic:

"I suffered from bulimia for eight years after my mother died. I was 19 and her death hit me badly. I had never been comfortable with my looks and felt I had lost the only person who loved me unconditionally. The pressure of being labelled 'the next Althea Gibson' only made things worse. I felt I was never going to be allowed to grow into just becoming me. Bulimia was my way of coping. I would eat as much junk food as I could and then go to the bathroom to throw it all back up. I also went through a phase that was closer to anorexia, living on a diet of lettuce and broccoli. This went on for months at a time."

Agreed. Idealy if she wanted to get faster she should have worked on beefing up her thighs, butt, and calves to give her more explosiveness.

In addition lots of "speed/agility drills" (similar to the ones that football running backs do) in order to keep her acceleration, change of direction, footspeed etc at its' best.

comparisions with Hantuchova should also mention it's the same coach. perhaps Sears has this effect on people

I don't think she's too skinny. Thinner than before of course, but it's definitely not dramatic. I also think that she's moving much better now than couple of years ago and despite many people saying that she has ,I don't think she's lost any power behind her shots.

it could well be.. i think that sears focuses on physical conditioning.

but it's not necessarily a bad thing in itself. some can take it and others can't. plus dani was dealing w her parents' divorce back then.

Nigel Sears like them young and skinny

Lucie ''Lucka'' Safarova, Petra ''KvittyGoat'' Kvitova, Sabine ''BoomBoom Bine'' Lisicki

Has she lost strength? Now her FH is the most powerful too, together Serena, Kvitova and Sharapova. What does it work to hit stronger if you don't take the court?
