From emaciated to curvy: Daniela Hantuchova serves up a healthier look for Wimbledon
Not so long ago she had tennis fans worrying about her health after she crashed out of Wimbledon.
Looking thin and apparently on the verge of a nervous breakdown, Daniela Hantuchova sobbed as she was beaten during the 2003 tournament.
But it was a very different Miss Hantuchova who arrived at a pre-Wimbledon party in London on Thursday evening.
From skinny to sophisticated: Daniela on the court in 2003 and arriving at the pre-Wimbledon Branson party on Thursday
Tanned and glamorous, the 25-year-old Slovakian was only too happy to pose for the cameras at the event hosted by Sir Richard Branson.
Her confidence and poise were in stark contrast to the scenes five years ago when her skinny frame drew concerned comments.
Miss Hantuchova, who is 5ft 11in with 44in legs, has always dismissed rumours that she had been suffering from an eating disorder.
She put her severe weight loss
down to a tough training regime.
But after slipping down the women's world rankings, she is now not only healthy again but also back in the top ten.
This year she achieved her best-ever grand slam performance by reaching the semifinal of the Australian Open.
She has said that she hopes her success in banishing the demons of 2003 may help other up and coming stars.
She said in a recent interview: 'Now I hope that I can be some kind of inspiration for young kids, by showing them that you can turn things around. Everyone matures at a different age.'
Commenting on publicity about her weight, she added: 'I think there is way too much emphasis on the way we look in sport in general.
Everyone has a different shape. People should focus only on the game.'
