Worst way to lose a match?

I have often wondered what is the most devestating way to lose a tennis match. For those of you who play, does it matter how you lose, or is a loss a loss?

Re: Worst way to lose a match?

If you don't care anymore then I guess none, but if it's something like 5-7 6-3 5-4 40-30 you're trying to get into the match again and your opponent hits a netcord and wins your face would be like this

The belief that man is an irresolute creature pulled this way and that by two forces of equal strength, alternately winning and losing the battle for his soul; the conviction that human life is nothing more than an uncertain struggle between heaven and hell; the faith in two opposed entities, Satan and Christ - all this was bound to engender those internal discords in which the mind, excited by the incessant fighting, stimulated as it were by the constant promises and threats, ends up by giving in and prostitutes itself to whichever of the two combatants has been more obstinate in its pursuit. Life isn't black and white, it's gold.

DF is just mentally crushing.

The woods are hopeless. Don't waste your time, they will be destroyed. So will the marsh. It is a losing game mankind has played for more than a century. Sadness is what you are, do not deny it. The universe is a lonely place, a painful place. This is what we can share between us, period.

Re: Worst way to lose a match?

The third option. It is the most frustrated when you can't catch the ball that is passing you when you stand at the net. Netcords are always somehow funny and you can think the other is lucky bitch and deal with it. After double fault all the emotions and stress are gone away, so it's sometimes kinda relief. As for the ace, you just cannot do anything.

Re: Worst way to lose a match?

Missed smash. Because there was the option to let it bounce if you're positioned right on the court.

If that makes sense. It does in my head.

Makes perfect sense to me and is why I don't hit overhead smashes anymore cause I always get too anxious and fuck them up. I think it's one of the worst ways to lose a match. I'm immune to feeling anything when I double fault since it happens so frequently.

And here you are, a black unicorn.
Mythical and mystical since the day that you were born.

Re: Worst way to lose a match?

Voted for double fault because it's the only shot a player has complete control of. Missed smashed is also pretty bad.

Re: Worst way to lose a match?

Double-fault, for sure. You atleast want to give your opponent a chance to fuck it up even if you push in a powderpuff second-serve.

I imagine a missed smash would be similarly devasting, although I never really miss them because I always let it bounce first, because I just don't have the footwork to take them from the air

Yeah, that's definitely the worst. Those other things are the result of things either you or your opponent do, but to lose a match because of a bad descision from a third party is much harder to accept.
