Who will history remember, and who should it remember? Jennifer or Lindsay

IF we make the assumption that they both accomplish a relatively equal amount from today forward, or they both retire tomorrow.

Which of them WILL the history books talk about 20 years from now, and which of them SHOULD the books concentrate on.

"Both" is not an acceptable answer. You have to decide who will get the credit and who deserves it.

They will look at Jen's Accomplishments more, although I think Lindsay is the better player between the two and should be remembered more.

hmmm Good Question!!!

I'm def not a fan of Capriati, but I think that she is the one who will be remembered, as it should be.

I don't think that Lindsay has really done much that would be remembered for. Not to take any credit away from her, but in general she has shyed/(sp?) from the lime light, and I don't think that she broke any records. I could be mistaken, thats just my humble opinion.

They will remember both, like all GS winners

DANIELA HANTUCHOVA = #1

Good luck Nathalie Dechy & Dinara Safina too!

Yet another poll!

** TP for Topaz or TennisPower **

"Playing aggressive tennis ... that's always the way to go, if you ask me." - Venus Williams, May/2002
"Some shots I will hit hard but not every ball. I'm not just using my power." - Serena Williams, Oct/2002

The "rolleyes thread" is in Non-Tennis.

You have to answer for Santino, Carlo.

Lindsay deserves it. She won 3 different slams and Jen only 2 different ones. Plus Lindsay has a lot more big titles.

But...

The tennis community loves Jen more because of the Cinderella story and she is more of a "public person". Thus she will be remembered more than Lindsay.

So what I'm saying is Lindsay deserves it but Jen will get it.

That's very tricky wording.

I voted for Jennifer, but it should be Lindsay. I think if they retired tomorrow, Jen has a great story and two good years, whilst Lindsay has a solid tennis career, so while I think at this point Lindsay should be higher than Jennifer in the standings, I guess Jennifer's non-strictly tennis merits will probably place her above Lindsay in 20 years time. Let's face it, they didn't talk all that much about Lindsay when she was No.1 and winning GS, so it could be that they won't be talking much about her in the future either, when I think she does deserve it.

Dawn, I was evaluating a lower tier than Monica, although I fear Jennifer may recieve a similar amount of historical consideration as Monica.

You have to answer for Santino, Carlo.

Jennuhfuh. Not fairly but look at how martina Hingis's five grand slams are already being dismissed by some as "not counting". Even though she won them very young which is already amazing.

Lindsay has way more titles and is way more accomplished in doubles also and had more weeks at #1. She leads Jenn head to head also but Jennifer is more popular with the press.

ok, then Jennifer and I disagree. I think Monica will receive more rememberance then Jen. I see Monica commentating with Mary Jo and even being a Fed Cup captain one day.

Lindsay!

In the middle of the night
I go walking in my sleep
Through the desert of the truth
To the river so deep
We all end in the ocean
We all start in the streams
We're all carried along
By the river of dreams
In the middle of the night

Yes, Guay, but this board does not contain the typical tennis fan. We are among the most dedicated, knowledgable tennis fans there are. But most tennis fans have their perceptions much more influenced by the media.

You have to answer for Santino, Carlo.
