I'll go with 7 which coincidentally will probably be the age of her next boyfriend.

6 or 7..I don't think she'll dominant nor consistent enough on non-grass surfaces. Plus she's already 21.

I rekon about 6 or 7. Have some good years winning a couple and have some bad years winning none.

too early to tell. But competition doesnt look really strong after many will retire 2012-13.
If she avoids serious injuries and keeps herself interested, even at average 1 slam/year she can finish more than 5-6, or so. Not just Wimbledon, but thats her "home".

Only relevant players, when it comes to slams, of the 00s retiring at the end of 2012 would be Clijsters and maybe Venus. Serena will still be around, and if Sharapova finds some consistency she can pose a threat too. The question is more when will the Serbians and Russians find their long lost forms again to make the tour interesting if only because there's still a large number of them around, while very minute number of old guards left.

Sharapova's problem isn't consistency...it's lack of weapons. Unless she fixes that serve, she isn't beating the elite and is mightily suspectible to even lower-ranked players having a good day.

It's too early to tell. We all thought Sharapova would win tons after her 2004, and 7 years later she's only added 2 more (up until now).

Her serve is a letdown for sure, but she doesn't lack weapons. She still dominates off the ground. She lacks consistency.

The thing is that this board has a different understanding of the term 'consistent' as I and probably a few others do. When I think 'consistent' I think of level maintained throughout a match, and throughout the tournament, not results (so I'm actually with Caro fans when they say that she's more consistent than Kvitova, but that's not really the discussion here but I'm just saying (I like Kvitova and dislike Wozniacki btw)).

Maria has had consistent results, yes, but she doesn't have the consistency in her game. We've seen it multiple times this year, cruising through some opponents in Miami and then struggling majorly against a weaponless player (Dulgheru). At Roland Garros, she had a few good matches, but was dire against Caroline Garcia and Li Na. At Wimbledon, she struggled against Robson, played pretty badly against Lisicki. At Cincinnati, she did ok-ish in the first few matches, and then the final was just a horrorfest.

Unlike the old times, this year she was unable to string together more than 2-3 good matches in a row, before having to dig deep and scrape through another opponent she should beat comfortably.

THAT is her problem.

But they all played in an era with much more depth and talent, I know Martha is still active but she pretty much sucks compared to her 04-08 version.

Re: How many Grand Slams will Petra Kvitova win in her career?

in february '99 people thought hingis would end up with 18+
in february '00 people thought Lindsay would win at least 7+
In september '01 people thought Venus would win 15+
In July '02 people thought serena would win 22+

they all had the potential to, but it doesnt always work out like that! hingis didnt win any more, neither did lindsay. Venus won 3 more over the next 10 years, which i have to admit is just rediculous considering the way she played in 00-01 - she hasnt strung form like that together since outside of wimbledon.

serena has continued winning when fit and healthy, but as we have seen she has spent almost as much time since summer 03 either not playing at all through injury and illness, or being comlpletely out of shape, as she has been in form

Re: How many Grand Slams will Petra Kvitova win in her career?

I think she will be unbeatable at Wimbledon until she declines alot. Serenas movement has declined too much to handle Kvitovas power on the fast grass, unless she serves lights out (plus she will is now entering her 30s). Sharapova has no chance against Kvitova on grass unless she fixes her service woes. The players of Kvitovas generation will all be easily overpowered by Kvitova on that particular surface, Azarenka being the only one who can maybe sort of hang with her but probably not win on grass. PS- Wozniacki fans please dont make me laugh hysterically for hours by suggesting Wozniacki can challenge Kvitova on grass, if they are ever in the same part of the draw at Wimbledon Woz will probably lose on purpose (well if she even has to) to avoid a beatdown twice as brutal as their 2010 encounter. I do think the Williams in their prime were definitely better overall grass courters (although Kvitova could still improve alot more), and it is basically the weak generation she is coming up with that will allow her to win so many Wimbledons.

The question is the other surfaces. I believe she can win a French, Australian, or U.S Open, but I dont believe she will dominate any of those slams.

I am going to guess 10. 5-7 Wimbledons and 3-5 at the other 3 slams combined.
