really really ugly match. Pironkova should gain some muscle weight, she looks like a model playing tennis. Really weak

Well done Dinara

The Double Faults cost her at times, but good for her for winning in straights!

Tsveti was trying to be a pusher at times.Unfortunate pusher.

Well, I never liked Safina as she is the same bashing player with no thoughts at all during play.Worse was that Tsveti was having even less idea what to do on court.Great many opportunities there and she never took advantage of them.
It was pretty good watching Tsveti saving 3 setballs in a row at 0-40 in the first set and eventually getting the game.Hope there's something good on the horizon for her.

Second set should have been much easier, but still positive signs. Interesting match next against Vika.

Dammit. At this rate we may wish we had a DNR on Cara.

Re: Marbella R2: Safina def Pironkova 6-3 6-4

Sometimes Dinara puts together 3-4 points that make you go "ahh", that must be the reason she was the best claycourt player 2-3 years ago. Then she reminds you why she is still ranked around 80. Her defensive movement is just not what it was 2-3 years ago. If Dinara was still in the top 10, you´d say she played like she just couldn´t take Pironkova seriously. Don´t think Dinara stands much of a chance against Azarenka, but who did the last two weeks.

I am not a fan of the direction a lot of Maria threads have taken over the last 12 months.
The undertone is very disappointing, aggressive and the comments are sometimes rude to a player just trying to earn a living, playing her hardest and having a good amount of success given her god given, natural talents.
You made the list: NEW President Bouchard, Cibulkova, Mladenovic, Wozniacki, Kerber, Cornet, Watson, Broady.
