Schiavone OUT of Fed Cup tie vs Russia

She said it's the best decision for her clay season preparation.

With Flavia likely to be out too, this tie could turn in a easy one for Russians.

ATP: Novak Djoković

Crazy Frenchies! Gilles Simon Alizé Cornet

She wants to have a good clay court season and playing this rubbish isn't going to help.

Good decision.

Errani or Vinci are both okay players. They way Sveta is playing, it wont be easy.

Flavia will withdraw too
play hard indoor during clay season means injury
so MEC really will be part of the team?

Yep.

I think it´s surprising and at the same time it shows that Fran maybe lacks confidence with the clay season coming up.

Normally, a patriot like her would never miss Fed Cup. Now when she has actually a grand slam title to defend (which she never will) she is afraid of losing points/falling back to where she belongs. There will be lots of pressure on her, she will be considered a favourite and all her clay matches will be watched more closely than before.

Simona Halep
Juan Martin Del Potro

I think it is a good idea. She seems tired and off kilter in her matches. Flavia definitely might want to consider skipping too.

Fed Cup is useless anyway.

I didnt say anywhere that she was going to miss Rome or Paris..

Now her defending of RG is the priority and other things go aside. In past, before having won RG, she would never skip Fed Cup-playing for her country if she is healthy.

I think he's right.
She's never had this kind of pressure and attention before. She'll be considered a favorite in almost every single clay match. I mean unless some players all of a sudden explode into their peak form (Sveta, Ana, etc.) is there anyone you'd consider a favorite over her? Kim, JJ maybe.

Re: Schiavone OUT of Fed Cup tie vs Russia

Good decision. She has always given herself to Fed Cup, time to think to herself.
Hope Fla withdraws too.
