Angry Alex Dulgheru Replacing Nadia Petrova As Golden Flower Killa

she has a perfect H2H against the Golden Flowers

1-0 v Peng (Premier Mandatory R16)
1-0 v Li (Premier SF)
1-0 v Zheng (Premier F)

Alex

for Nadia, her big serve was too much for the Golden Flowers to handle ... for Alex, it is her variety too much different slices, dices, drives, moonballs and dropshots so the Golden Flowers cannot get into a rhythem

Re: Alex Dulgheru Replacing Nadia Petrova As Golden Flower Killa

What is so special about this?

Na was a fluke Aussie Open finalist, Zheng had a fluke year and Peng is just on a fluke run of form.

None of them should be in the top 20, so I don't see how this is so surpising

Dulgheru is better than them.

Yeah, a 2 year run of gret form is a fluke

US Open final, 2 slam semis, 5 tier 1s in a row, #1 ranking, top 10 for 2 years = fluke

It's not so much Alex's variety than the aforementioned players' lack thereof. It's actually shocking how much they lack a Plan B in matches , or even a plan A.2

Indeed. Li, Zheng and Peng have all been successful for better than 5 years. And in that time they have, if anything improved, with both Li and Peng at career highs and Zheng less than 2 years from her career high.

Anyway it is very nice of NA-GOAT to recognise the early success Alex is having against the Chinese players but she has a long way to go before achieving Petrova status. Three wins is good but the China still have lots of time to even things up.

I do find the whole phenomenon of players who are particularly good (or bad) against a country quite intriguing though. I know Alex and the rest of the Romanians have their own Petrova in the form of Azarenka who is 11-0 vs Romanians with only one set dropped.

I'm sure there must be some anti-Petrova out there who couldn't beat any Chinese player if their life depended on it. Infact it would be interesting to see what other examples their are of players dominating whole countries or for that matter being dominated by them.

By the way, Alex likes to defeat Golden Flowers when it's most important!
Her H2H is 3-0!
Did anyone read my post in the Peng vs. Alex thread!

By the way, Romania's girls have a very good H2H vs. the current Swiss players! I think Bacsinszky alone has something like 1-7 or so...

Nice try.

Anyway, congrats Alex. Will be interesting to see Alex and Nadia compete for the title of Golden Flower Killa in the next few years

i think golden flowers can beat warsaw-goat on faster courts.

Golden Flowers' Slams

Asian GOAT Na Li(2): 2011 & 2014

That's a pretty impressive fluke-run.
