Re: Pink tennis balls

Actually, I don't even know how pink tennis balls would help us to promote breast cancer but that's only my opinion...

Give back 2006 US Open to Justine

In America, pink ribbon is the symbol for breast cancer awareness.
Lot of sporting events use this theme to support the cause.
I've seen golfers use pink balls, even ice hockey played on pink ice.
I guess its only limited to US.

Nah, a lot of countries around the world do the pink thing to various degrees.

It would be hard to do with tennis because the colour of the ball is kind of important to the player. Something like a pink attire scheme would be more feasible.

If like another poster pointed out, they've turned the ice-rink pink for hockey, I see no problem/difficulty at all with using pink tennis balls. It's quite shameful it hasn't been done yet actually, especially in the women's game.

Re: Pink tennis balls

I've played with them and they really didn't affect my game much. I guess they wouldn't work so well on orange clay, but yeah, otherwise, why not?

It is pretty surprising that they haven't really done anything for breast cancer for sure. But theres a difference between turning the ground/ice pink and turning the ball/puck pink. I mean can you imagine a pink puck?? They probably also wouldn't look as good on the coverage.

I don't think anyone was actually looking at the tennis balls.
But on a more serious note, I think it would be a good thing to do during breast cancer awareness month at least to show some support. However, I don't know whether it would be done because it might be harder to play with a new colored ball.
