Matchups that differ between surfaces?

Which matchups (between any players, past or present (preferably notable)) would you say vary immensely from surface to surface? More specifically, can you name any matchups where there is a notable or evident discrepancy between the two players on both clay and grass, with one being the favourite on one surface and the other being the favourite on the alternative?

Reasons / videos / head to head records would be great!

Dulko - Navratilova
2004 FRENCH OPEN CLAY R128 G.Dulko 6-1 6-3
2004 WIMBLEDON GRASS R64 G.Dulko 3-6 6-3 6-3

Serena and Henin.
Henin usually had the edge on clay.
Serena always played Justine better on hard courts.

Stosur vs pretty much anyone.

A single flow'r he sent me, since we met./All tenderly his messenger he chose;
Deep-hearted, pure, with scented dew still wet - One perfect rose.
I knew the language of the floweret;/'My fragile leaves,' it said, 'his heart enclose.'
Love long has taken for his amulet/One perfect rose.
Why is it no one ever sent me yet/One perfect limousine, do you suppose?
Ah no, it's always just my luck to get/One perfect rose.

Re: Matchups that differ between surfaces?

Considering they're playing tomorrow, why not look at Safina-Zvonareva?

Safina-Zvonareva 6-5

Clay: Safina 4-1
HC: Zvonareva 4-1
Carpet: Safina 1-0

Zvonareva got to be the fave tomorrow then.

Re: Matchups that differ between surfaces?

All time greatest rivalry?

Navratilova-Evert 43-37

Carpet: Navratilova 19-6
Grass: Navratilova 10-5
HC: Evert 16-11
Clay: Evert 10-3

Evert was the queen of clay, but Nav had her on the fast surfaces.

Re: Matchups that differ between surfaces?

Serena vs Schnyder. I'm pretty sure Serena has never beaten Patty on clay, or something to that extent. Their H2H is like 10-4 or something

Hard - S. Williams 6-0

Re: Matchups that differ between surfaces?

Davenport-Venus 14-13

HC: tied 9-9
Grass: Venus 4-0
Carpet: Davenport 4-0
Clay: Davenport 1-0

Funny how Venus dominated on Grass and Lindsay dominated on Carpet, I mean both surfaces are pretty fast, right?

Interesting that they only meet once on clay in their long rivalry. Probably because neither liked clay that much, and couldn't hold their seedings.

Lindsay had much bigger problems against the younger Williams btw:

Serena-Davenport 10-4

HC: Serena 9-3
Clay: Serena 1-0
Carpet: Davenport 1-0

Still, Davenport never lost to a Williams on carpet (except for a W/O in 2001 not included above).

Re: Matchups that differ between surfaces?

Serena and davenport never met on grass?! That'd be a great serving battle..funny to see how lopsided the h2h is, even on HC's!

Re: Matchups that differ between surfaces?

The JJ vs Venus H2H is also interesting : JJ leads 6-5 (9/11 were 3setters).
HC : Venus 4-1
Clay : Jelena 4-1
Grass : Jelena 1-0
