Biggest achievement of Gisela Dulko

Do you think that it is still one of Dulko's biggest achievements to beat Navratilova twice in a Grand-Slam?
Including a tough three-setter in the second round of Wimbledon 2004?

Re: Biggest achievement of Gisela Dulko

Whenever I think of Gisela, the very first thing which comes to mind is her win over Maria at W. I know Sharapova wasn't at her best then, but I still think that was a great moment for Gise, beating a former champ on the CC.

After that, her doubles success.

Let's see how far she can go in doubles.
Imagine Flavia and Gisela win the Grand Slam this year... That would be THE achievement.

Re: Biggest achievement of Gisela Dulko

In the last 18 months Dulko has established herself as an elite doubles player. Several very good upsets in singles, 4 titles and a #26 ranking are all fine accomplishments but a #1 doubles ranking, 17 doubles titles and a doubles Grand Slam dwarf anything Gisela has achieved as a singles player.

Being an elite doubles player to me is a greater accomplishment than being a very good singles player.

Beating Sharapova at Wimbledon. Beating Henin at Indian Wells was also big.

Beating a 50 year old Navratilova isn't really a great achievement..

Agree. It looks nice on the CV but really that's just a case of right place, right time.

Re: Biggest achievement of Gisela Dulko

in a few years she will be onyl remembered for her doubles achievments

an upset at a slam will be forgotten then

How can beating a granny Martina be considered as an achievement ?
Her double records, of course

It was, as someone said, a case of right place..right time. But I'd go with it just because of how amazing it is to say "I Beat Martina Navratilova at Wimbledon"

That is the first thing that sprung to MY mind.
Her doubles prowess doesnt mean much to me personally, since she plays during a time when top players DONT play or take doubles seriously.

The fact that she has won GS is good i guess, has she won any against the BEST doubles team of this generation when they are playing?
That would be S & V!
