Random ranking poll

I just noticed Radwanska has been in the top 10 for almost three years now. At the same time, she hasn't won anything in that period of time, including MM events but has reached a certain depth in slams and big events to maintain her ranking.

Which is more important? Which would you prefer?

Yeah, she only plays Premier tournaments, 18 in the last 12 months (Wozniacki for example has played 23, including 2 international).

Pretty much.

The Roadmap messed over a player like Radwanska who is able to thrive in lower ranked events where the class gulf is a lot more apparent and her game can just feast on errors from inept opponents.

Now that she is forced to play almost exclusively in Tier II+ tournaments, she can't do anything because she loses to the first top 30 player playing good tennis.

A title is always better than a good ranking.
I'd personally remember more Duque Marino than Radwanska

It makes perfect sense so you remember Mariana bettter because she has more titles, right?

She finished last year ranked outside the top 10 so she isn't limited to 2 international tournaments this year.

Of course last year she didn't play any international tournaments.

Re: Random ranking poll

I really don't get the hate Radwanska receives here - so sure, her game is not the most exciting and filled with screaming winners, but she has her unique crafty style and very nice hands for a woman player. I personally like watching her, if only to see something different than generic baseline grinding from your generic baseliner.

People here have a strong opinions about what defines a good player. If a player has success and is not in line with their definition or even worse is ranked higher than a player they like who plays according to their definition then they don't understand it and hate that player . I have no other explanation (I am not counting the 5 year olds).

Re: Random ranking poll

this is a tricky question, I'd say if a player doesn't play much lower tournments where she's the top seed or top 2 seeds (maybe less than2) I'd say being a consistent top 10 means more than winning titles. If she's playing more than 2 and she's oftenly in the top 2 seeds and never win a title, that is just really bad lol

Wozniak~ElTabakh ~Marino~Eugenie Bouchard...and the other Canucks!
Maria Sharapova~Anna Chakvetadze~Jelena Dokic~Laura Robson ~Sabine Lisicki

Who said this thread was about Radwanska bashing? Her case was merely used as an example.
