Kuala Lumpur: Safarova [5] def. Diyas 7:5, 6:1

The first set was very close, both girls were serving very well (and returning quite poorly). Lucie´s serve was very impressive throughout the whole match; however, what she certainly needs to improve is her return.

GL in the next round, Lucie!

Yeah, Diyas played so well in the first set, and then she could do nothing. Granted that Lucy basically took control at 6-5 in the first, but I thought Diyas would put up more fight. She still seems a good prospect, though.

Also, Lucie was able to dominate most rallies with her powerful topspin forehand. The vast majority of her UEs - as far as I remember - were bad returns of the second serve of Diyas.

What was the UE/winners figures? Do you know? I didn't see them.

They didn´t show them at all, unfortunately. According to http://www.protennislive.com, Lucie won 85% points on her first serve and 68% on her second serve and didn´t face a single breakpoint on her serve.

However, there are no stats for winners/uneforced errors on that site.

Lucie

Pretty tricky first set. Diyas faded away after that.

Lucie served really well today, and the 2nd set she really ran away with it...but if she could return serve this match would've been much easier (so would a lot of her matches )

This.

Lucie is one of the better and more underrated servers on tour. It's her status on ros that's especially held her ranking back.
