It looks highly likely that Fran will repeat in Paris

We already know she can beat Stosur.
Justine is lost, slow and her fh is very bad.
Ivanovic not consistent.
Kuz, Fran can handle her.
Wozniacki can hardly beat her on hard, let alone clay.
Clijsters doesn't like clay.
Serena coming back from injury.
Venus and Maria will probably lose before they have to play her.
Zvonareva won't make it to Fran since Fran will be seeded 4 most likely.

Who knows. Things may change from here to Paris.
And this is the first time Franny might feel pressured to live up to. Let's see if she delivers.

What pressure? Nobody will make her the favourite, she is very underrated.

She's the one being hunted. She's never been in that position before.

Nobody might see her as the favourite. I didn't.
But after her recent GS runs...she is for sure one of the bookies favourite.

Fran only won 4 tournaments in her entire career, one being the French.
You could say all the stars aligned for her that fortnight.

In my book she will never be the favorite at any Grand Slam tournament...

Caroline Wozniacki

2006 Year End #237 - 2007 Year End #64 - 2008 Year End #12 - 2009 Year End #4

2010 Year End #1
2011 Year End #1

2012 Year End #10 - 2013 Year End #10

See?
She won't really be hunted, because nobody rates her still. But she has the best movement and the best game on clay at the moment. I really don't see who could beat her at RG.

She can win again, and she will be the favorite, since Justine is nowhere nowadays...

But If Ivanovic plays her best against her, Ana has the advantage

Yes, but will Ivanovic show up and will she make it to Fran? She is not reliable.

Wow, RG is months away, we haven't even seen players play on clay. What if Kuznetsova suddenly becomes the dominant force on clay? Or Henin somehow regains her mojo etc etc? Or even more likely, some unexpected story makes it big again at RG?

And how exactly is Ana suddenly at an 'advantage'??

High likely is a vast exaggeration, but her form there last year and at the Aussie this year have shown she certainly has the ability to repeat.

My number one: Victoria Azarenka

ATP: Novak Djoković

Crazy Frenchies! Gilles Simon Alizé Cornet

Re: It looks highly likely that Fran will repeat in Paris

At this stage I wouldn't rule it out at all. She's really started to pick it up for the Grand Slams again and she's one of a very select players who can play effectively on clay.

Hlavackova, Strycova, Venus, Serena, Schiavone, Hradecka, Safarova, Cetkovska, Pliskova, Kasatkina, Putintseva, Ostapenko, Gasparyan

Sam Smith on Hlavackova

"I will now call her LP Hlavackova - low percentage Hlavackova. I hope she doesn't drive a car the way she drives her groundstrokes!"

Sure it may be early to make predictions, but it's not that far fetched. Kuz has never dominated anything, so that's really hard to concieve. Henin looks done and her fh is going to get even more exposed on clay. Stosur will be there and maybe the player to beat but Fran proved she can outsmart her.

Jankovic getting to some resemblance of form would be good for the tour, but I don't see it for RG at least.
