the return of the tactical timeout?

didn't seem to be that many of them last year, but been a few already this season didn't take long for radwanska to get back into the act

they've been a blight on the game for years, but if they were banned there'd be more retirements, so a tricky business all round.

Re: the return of the tactical timeout?

how do you distinguish a tactical timeout from a genuine one?

You take one when injury is barely noticeable and opponent has momentum

Well, not exactly. I'm from Poland, so maybe you would think that I'm biased, but Radwanska has back issues from late december, when she started hitting the balls after the surgery. She was training too much and too hard, just to get ready for Aus Open.

Now, let me put the record straight. I woke up in the middle of the night to watch her match against Kimiko and she was absolutely disgusting. She's spoiled, she was mad that Date dared to hit winners. Well, if you hit like Radwanska, powerpuff balls most the time, it should be expected that every player will hit winners against you. I was pissed.

But the time out, it was understandable. It was reported in polish media that she's having some issues with spine, beacuse apparently she wanted to do very much in this little period of time before Austalian Open.

So no, there was no tactical timeout in this one, sorry. Plus Date never lost her concentration. In the timeout she basically moved all the time and played not that bad afterwords. IT's just that she was tired. That's all. Radwanska did nothing to win. Nothing.

KDK did that once last year or two years ago

Petkovic today too, down a set and a break. Really had no apparent injury, unless it was some sort of brain injury.

Nah, not an excuse. Every girl on the WTA (with few exceptions) has the same injury.
