Re: Arina Rodionova had her Aussie Citizenship Application Rejected!!
It has to be said, Arina has none of her sister's reputation for bad sportsmanship and I can not recall reading a bad word about her on court behaviour.
Additionally the suggestion that either one of them's decision to become an Australian Citizen was based on getting a few WCs is ridiculous. Anastasia Rodionova did get a WC this year for Sydney. It was, unless I am mistaken which I don't think I am, the 1st WC she has received from Tennis Australia. Anastasia also contributed to Australia's Fed Cup win again the Ukraine last April.
Changing nationalities in order to get one or even two possibly WCs a year would in my view be an extraodinarily extreme length to go. I believe the bottom line is that both sisters like living in Australia and speaking as someone who passionately believes in freedom of movement, I personally can not support the decision to refuse Arina Australian citizenship, and I say that as someone who is not on a level a fan of either sister.
