Exclamation The race gets closer : Will Anna Maggie and Elena get caught by Nathalie and Patty ?

The race to LA gets more and more fascinating. Yesterday, Myskina and Farina made it to the Championships officially. Now that Lindsay has even more points than Farina after reaching the semis, she might be announced "in" within the next days, Chanda is close to qualifying.

But what makes it a real interesting race is the fact that Patty is just 30points appr. behind Elena (16th so far) reaching the semis today and Dechy is still in the Bratislava event just a couple of points behind Schnyder.

It will be interesting what Maleeva+Dementiewa+Smashnova do the next week and wether or not Dechy and Schnyder will make it !

i think anna is safe.....
maggie has the hardest task as she was a semifinalist at linz last year. elena lost in the 2nd round

patty was a quarterfinalist in luxembourg and nathalie was beaten in the 2nd round there.
it certainly becomes very exciting but i think 1-2 players will pull out.

Sharapova
Azarenka Kerber
Pavlyuchenkova Sakkari Muguruza Goerges Wickmayer Halep Osaka Kleybanova Kuznetsova Shvedova Kasatkina Bencic Kanepi Svitolina Cirstea Tsurenko Vekic

gmak- last years results have nothing to do with the championships so no body has any points to defend.

It depends on the results this year only.

The players add points week by week in that list and all results in WTA events this year do count.

I´m confused noone seems interested in this topic really

Well, I hope Patty gets in! But it will be interesting to see who makes it!

Patty is playing great nowadays and I hope she could make it.

Don't be so sure BE!

If Amelie misses, then the next person on the list gets in (ie the #17th on the list). I think Marti's already out, so whoever is #17 should still get in. If Amelie misses also, then #18 on the Race list will get in also!

I'd go for Patty to beat Conchita today...

elena shot herself by losing to daniela.... a win there would have sealed it.
i want both maggie and elena to qualify and i still think they will even if they get passed by patty. i think someone else will pull out ( probably venus or amelie )

The Luxembourg draw is out!

(1) Clijsters - Bye
Pelletier- Q
Sanchez-Vicario - Granville
(6) Kremer - Salerni

(3) Coetzer - Q
Rittner - Q
Grande - Zvonareva
(8) Husarova - Q

(5) Raymond - Ostrovskaja
Pisnik - Nagyova
Black - Q
(4) Dechy - Srebotnik

(7) Bovina - Gagliardi
Serra-Zanetti - Frazier
Likhovtseva - Schaul
(2) Maleeva - Bye

Especially the second quarter is interesting concerning the chase. It's a wide open field; anyone could reach the final! If Maggie reaches the final, she's definitely in. If Maggie is defeated early and Nathalie can manage to reach the final (but she also has to do well today and hopefully for her tomorrow in Bratislava) she also has a good chance of qualifying.
Nathalie has to reach at least the semi's to make it. Maggie could lose early and still be lucky and go trough.
Amanda probably won't make it, even if she wins the whole thing and beats Kim on the way. If she does, she needs at least both Martina and Amélie to withdraw (and probably someone else too) in order to play in LA.

**Playing Saturday
Thanks for the list. I'd be surprised if another one doesn't pull out. We know already Marti isn't gonnab e able to play, so I think Elena D should still just make it... but I guess it depends how Patty and Nathalie do. If Elena's playing next week, then it'll be much the better for her. Patty isn't playing next week...

The lower racers are all playing next week:

Patty Schnyder vs. Anastasia Myskina 1st round - Linz
Elena Dementieva vs. Ai Sugiyama 1st round - Linz
Anna Smashnova vs. Qualifier 1st round - Linz

Magdalena Maleeva vs. Likhovtseva/Schaul 2nd round - Luxembourg
Dechy vs. Srebotnik 1st round - Luxembourg

This is about the most important week of the year for these players, especially for Dechy, Dementieva, Schnyder and Maleeva.
Next week will determine whether they'll go or not.

Good luck to all of you, really!
