Eurosport commentator, Sam Smith today said that Alexandra Stevenson probably had the best 2nd serve in Women's tennis. Better than venus or Serena, and better than a lot of players' first serves..
She seemed to prove this in her match with Jelena Dokic, when, if her big first serve failed, the second often did nearly as much damage. Coming in regularly at 90mph plus, Alex's 2nd serve was enough to dominate many points with jelena, and she got t least three clean Aces wth it!
Serena's second serve is consistent, powerful and well-placed. She wins hands down. But I must put in a plug for Kim Clijsters. Her second serve isn't quite so powerful... mid 80s to high 80s at best, but she places it so well and rarely double faults. I've seen her play live three times and was impressed with how many cheap points she could win with that second serve!!
WHen Alex's serve is working, she has the best second serve. When it's not, she goes for it anyway, and DF's.

Not blind. Not uninformed. We are party to atrocities. But the response of the world after 9/11 is worth noting. Even our most dire enemies offered aid. We should all be so lucky.
You have long been my goal, been my chasing, been my soul. I have hung out on the edge. But I just couldn't let go. There's a time to forgive. There's a time to forget. Close your eyes, get ready, set. Walk me down this fall I'm taking but don't let me go yet. Oh let me go, sweetheart, throw me, around you, like you know me. And remember me too. Remember me too from a dream i had of you. Mary Margaret O'Hara | Dream I Had | Apartment Hunting | 2002.
