Capriati "injury" may just be a shield for other issues

Jennifer Capriati has only been a shell of her 2001 self this year and maybe her lack of desire and improper training has cought up with her and resulted in this latest "injury" that she incurred playing against the old veteran, conchita Martinez, of all players.

This injury may be more psychological than physical and it could be just the ticket that Capriati is looking for to get off the tour a month or so early.

Maybe Jennifer will show more dedication to her career in 2003 after she gets it back together in the off season.

Well, considering she fell and hurt her ankle on live television, I'm tending to doubt the injury is mental.

And considering that Jennifer said she'd definitely be in LA, I don't think she's using it as an excuse to skip out on the rest of the year.

gee Tee Rex, think you could have "cought" a more unflattering picture?

No kidding. Come on Tee, why the need to bash someone over and over again? Everything you said about Jennifer's game was correct, but I don't think she faked THIS injury. But who knows? I don't think that Jennifer is using drugs or drinking too much however. She has too much respect for herself to do that.

Why would Jennifer need an "excuse" to get out of the rest of the year? Venus and Serena simply announced that they were "tired" and didn't want to play. If Jennifer didn't want to play she could do the same. No need to make up an injury.

Yea, I agree... she staged her fall, risked her career... all to coverup her "problems" -- that Jennifer, she's the devil

Y'know...it'd almost be humorous if it wasn't so pathetic the way Tee just has to attack Jennifer on every occasion.

p.s. I hear she's been in LA practicing with stuntmen at Warner Brothers to get that fall down just right....must be nice having "Hollywood" connections

Just one thing, to you all.

Tee keeps starting threads to bash Jennifer or i dunno who else, why dont YOU let those threads die? Haven't you noticed he's having fun teasing you guys? And you are all jumping on the occasion, whining and reporting posts. Just ignore him and this kind of threads and maybe he'll get bored eventually.

excellent advice Dahveed. another suggestion which i will take myself -- put him permanently on ignore so that way you have nothing to respond to.

I'm not bashing Jen but doesnt anyone else find it IRONIC that she played BETTER after her injury? Now think back to last year where Serena played Jen and Serena said she was under the weather with the flur or stomach virus and what did Jen say? Something along the lines of "she wasn't playing good for being so sick" Im paraphrasing.

SO does that mean she wasn't sick or jen wasn't injured NO it means they both have a lot of heart to keep going depsite it all.

the injury was not obvious. her footwrok was a bit clumsy as usualy, but it really did not look like anything was wrong i.e. she did not fall or appear to stumble. besides, she moved better in the second set, after the injury, than at any time before the sprain or whatever.

basically, when youre being crushed 6-0 1-0, one way of snapping your opponents' rhythm is either through improved play yourself, a bathroom break or an injury time out. or pray that your opponents' game goes off. there was no indication that jen was improving, that Conchita was weakening, and there was no bathroom break. just a slightly suspect injury that occurred on a point that Capriati won, and on a point where there was obvious sign of any stumble or imbalance.

You have long been my goal, been my chasing, been my soul. I have hung out on the edge. But I just couldn't let go. There's a time to forgive. There's a time to forget. Close your eyes, get ready, set. Walk me down this fall I'm taking but don't let me go yet. Oh let me go, sweetheart, throw me, around you, like you know me. And remember me too. Remember me too from a dream i had of you. Mary Margaret O'Hara | Dream I Had | Apartment Hunting | 2002.

TeeRex, after a long day consisting of both university and work, I can always come home, turn on my computer and smile because I know that I will always find another one of your smart-arsed comments. Keep up the great work

"her footwork was clumsy as usual"?? Jennifer's footwork and balance is probably the best out of the top 4.
