Will ther be a Russian Slam or Sanex winner in 10 yrs?

that's 40 Grand Slams and 10 Sanex Championships
let's add 3 more Olympics..........will there be a Russian
winner for that?

Anna K and Demetieva got pretty close
Anna reached Wimbledon SF
and Dementieva reached US SF,
but Anna has lost in 1st rounds for 4 times in Slams
this year so i guess that makes her 0-4 in Slam...
and Dementieva never passed QF after that SF showing......
but still IMO, they are most likely to win one.....

Myskina and Bovina are pretty talented as well,
Bovina even reached QF in US Open this year,
and Myskina is now the highest ranked Russian,
but can they overcome all odds like Jen did when
she won the gold medal in 1992 or Australian Open in 00?

Safina, Zvonareva, Kuznetsova, Krasnoroutskaya 2nd wave....
they are only 17, or 18....will they get one?
Safina and Kuznetsova already got titles
and Zvonareva came pretty close,
and Krasnoroutskaya is a lot more talented....
and they are top 10 in Russian....that's pretty good

Sharapova, Kirilenko, Douchevina, new wave,
they are 15, so by the time they are at peak (20 i assume)
Williams are approaching the end of their reign in WTA
but can their best beat Williams' ok?.....

I think so. After the top American's retire, there really isn't many big American girls coming up. We keep hearing about Harkleroad, but her results have been showing she may be able to hang with power players.

Safina, Myskina, Bovina are my top three picks

I have a hunch that Venus will retire at the end of the 2005 season; after her Reebok contract is up. Plus, she said she only wants to play until she's 25. She turns 25 in 2005

Serena: who knows? With the girl acting...???

Probably yes, more likely yes. Most, if not all top players of today will be over the top or retired in five years time. In five years time Kirilenko, Sharapova, Kuznetsova and the rest of the Russian girls mentioned earlier should be at their best age.
but only time will tell.....................

with the Russian invasion right now (they're in every tournament), I wouldn't be surprised that one day a top player would come from this country.

Madame Oracene Williams could certainly teach the French & Belgian crowds on how to upgrade their respective primitive behaviours during a tennis match.

Wouldn't it be killer if Anna Kournikova "threw a Chris O'Neill"? In other words, she wins her first Grand Slam title but that remains the only senior professional title to her name. It's a long shot, but if it happened to Chris O'Neill then it could happen to anybody.

Seriously, I wouldn't know who to pick. I'd like to see Dinara Safina win one. That would certainly put her in the record books as being part of the only brother-sister siblings to win GS singles titles.

Everyone keeps talking about Anastasia. What do you see in her? I see a typical old guard Russian baseliner with a killer backhand, an inconsistent forehand, no serve and absolutely no variety. She is coached by her father which is a major negative, and in today's game, you just can't have as big a weakness as her serve. I mean any power player on earth can just kill the thing.
