When Did The Day & Night Dress Traditon At US Open Start

I don't remember when it started and which player started that trend but it's obviously a must have now. What's more annoying are the irrelevant players having both day & night dresses like Ivanovic last year whom we missed with a blink of an eye. Now this year we have irrelevant players like Wozniacki and MM tournament queen Sharapova having both as well. Some fouled dresses should not be allowed to have a duplicate version like Lena D's Yonex barf bag. So what happens when the other slams starts having matches at night? Will they the players do the same?

I remember Maria's 2006 night dress as the first.

Well, she was pretty much a non-factor in the finals. I don't recall her putting up much resistance in the finals or beating anyone of note to even get there in the first place.

Anyway would be interesting to know who initiated this trend and when it started.

Re: When Did The Day & Night Dress Traditon At US Open Start

She beat Sveta, a USO champion and finalist who had just won the FO.
Who is relevant? Someone who hasnt won the USO & is not holding a major?

Wozniacki is wearing Stella McCartney exclusives, and Sharapova has a huge Nike deal, so expect them to be on short list of players with day/night outfits

The most wasted of all days is one without laughter....
Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there
Enjoy This Moment!!
HEALTH and HAPPINESS to EVERYONE

I think it was Masha 2006 wasn't it?

She was the only one who I remembered having a day and a night dress.

I think they should all just stick to one outfit per grandslam, especially Ana and Maria as we only get to see each dress like once
