Chris Evert. She's the base model for the modern player anyway. She was one of the best athletes on the tour, in her day, and with today's rackets, she'd keep her accuracy while being able to generate way more pace.

Not blind. Not uninformed. We are party to atrocities. But the response of the world after 9/11 is worth noting. Even our most dire enemies offered aid. We should all be so lucky.

Define "past".

Graf would fit in any era of tennis, past present future.

A single flow'r he sent me, since we met./All tenderly his messenger he chose;
Deep-hearted, pure, with scented dew still wet - One perfect rose.
I knew the language of the floweret;/'My fragile leaves,' it said, 'his heart enclose.'
Love long has taken for his amulet/One perfect rose.
Why is it no one ever sent me yet/One perfect limousine, do you suppose?
Ah no, it's always just my luck to get/One perfect rose.

If you think Chrissie would make it today, then you have to include the more powerful Chrissie clone Tracy Austin. She beat Chrissie at her own game.

I am not conceited, I am just convinced

Anna Mallory. Grinding, no-prisoners baseline game, run you into the ground. Think (from what I've read, because she dates from the teens) Dementieva's grinding game with Evert's mental toughness and Serena's "bring it bitch" attitude.

Davenport... but it depends on what do you mean by ''past''. Davenport would demolish Althea Gibson for example lol.

The belief that man is an irresolute creature pulled this way and that by two forces of equal strength, alternately winning and losing the battle for his soul; the conviction that human life is nothing more than an uncertain struggle between heaven and hell; the faith in two opposed entities, Satan and Christ - all this was bound to engender those internal discords in which the mind, excited by the incessant fighting, stimulated as it were by the constant promises and threats, ends up by giving in and prostitutes itself to whichever of the two combatants has been more obstinate in its pursuit. Life isn't black and white, it's gold.

Like the Retired Players!
Cause I think there are a lot of players in the past that have done well..But when the Era of the Williamses came and the tennis became more powerful they didn't stand a chance!

Anna Kournikova has an injury every two inches of body, but Hingis does have opportunities against mediocre players (top 100 I mean) she's been demolishing everyone in her way in exhibitions this year. And Venus had to save 3 match points against her and Venus wasn't playing bad.
