Does anyone know anything about Sarah Borwell?

Does anyone know anything about her? She's the worst tennis player I've ever seen live.

I take it you haven't been to many events then

She's a former NCAA player, turned pro after graduating from College, and after a few years as an ITF level singles player, decided to then focus on doubles because of a lot of ongoing injuries that were hindering her ability to play singles constantly. Most notable result in singles was a win over Domachowska at Wimbledon for her lone career main draw slam victory.

As far as her game goes, nice serve, pretty decent forehand, volleys are not bad either. Backhand can be suspect, and her movement is probably one of her bigger weaknesses as well, although she obviously doesn't have to rely so much on that as a doubles specialist now.

And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. Any if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time!

But he loves you."

I know she's British. That's about it.

Re: Does anyone know anything about Sarah Borwell?

I've never been to a WTA event actually. I've been to Legg Mason for three years. I'll try to go to the US Open this year for the first time.

She is really not good at all. Volleys into the net constantly. Terrible errors in the groundstrokes. Very poor movement. I wish I could watch Hingis with a semi-decent partner.

And now I get to watch Martina with the worst male player I've ever seen live: Scoville Jenkins.

Angela Haynes might be a little chunky but she hits a great forehand up the line.

Brie?

I used to list my favorite tennis players here...
...then they all retired.
I used to keep track of my rankings in fantasy games here...
...then I realized how much I suck.
I used to update this signature, once in a while...
...then I realized no one actually reads it.

If I remember correctly, she was playing doubles with Raquel Kops-Jones at Wimby this year and she hit Liezel Huber in the throat near the same play Nadia hit her a couple years ago.

And here you are, a black unicorn.

Martina's team is so bad! I don't think they've won a tie yet.
I'm not sure how WTT works either. Hingis played Haynes twice in about 3 days. The scheduling is so strange.

Trust me, it can get a lot worse than Sarah Borwell

Have to consider as well that it is basically an exhibition, and you're probably not going to see most players truly playing their best game. Not to say they don't want to win, but it's still not the same as playing a proper tour event. Haynes though, is definitely a better player than Borwell when she's on her game (sadly not often, but she's very flashy when it's all connecting).

She was playing pretty well in Wimbledon vs. Huber/Mattek-Sands.

Re: Does anyone know anything about Sarah Borwell?

Haynes's game is actually very flashy when it's all connecting! Hingis is a shadow of her former self, but there are still flashes of her brilliant defense and touch from time to time. The worst thing is that she has completely lost her consistentcy.

Martina's team, the NY Buzz, is very, very bad. They haven't won a single match and the game against the DC Kastles just got rained out. I think the NY Buzz may technically have won by one point/game, but the honest truth is that Martina's team is atrocious and happened to catch Bobby Reynolds and Stubbs on a bad night.

I'm surprised how angry Stubbs can get at an exho.

Having just watched some of the highlights of Hingis' match against Venus, you can see she's definitely not anywhere close to where she was playing a couple of years ago when she made her comeback. Backhand was still being struck quite well, and she still has good feel, instincts, and hands at the net, but there was a lot lacking as well. Serve had nothing on it, and a lot of forehands landing really really short and with very little pace.

And yes, Rennae's basically a sour bitch any time she's on a tennis court and not winning a point

Re: Does anyone know anything about Sarah Borwell?

Hingis was much, much better today than she was against Venus, and the match against Haynes was much more watchable. She hit her forehand better today, but she'd have a long way to go if she is really considering a comeback.
