best womans grand slam final of the last 25 years?

has anyone else seen the italian language version of espn classic? anyway, they were discussing the great grand slam finals of the last twenty five years. here are some of the matches from which clips were shown and i added the last one, so pick your favourite.

on the progamme pam shriver picked chris v martina in 1985 FO, bud collins picked graf v seles in 1995 UO, and virginia wade picked 1978 chris v martina in wimbledon

i think martina hingis v steffi graf was best. martina shouldn't have crossed the net, but she was right about the call!

Okay I picked three

Chris and Martina in Wimbly 78 is special, it is becuase they played a very high quality match, it is becuase of MArtina first Wimbledon title, and after that MArtina went on and dominate Wimbleodn 8 mroe times

I alos picked US Open Monica against Steffi, I think anyone who follow tennis at that time could have told you that women tennis overshadow the men on that US Open completely, it was the Monica great comeback, Steffi at that time facing a lot of problem coz of her dad and everything, and the promoters got a dream final, both play well, Monica had a chance to win the first set, but then a bad call (right or wrong I can't tell you) but then the most amazing thing abiout the match is that Monica at that time is still very unfit and slightly overweight, so everyone just marvel how well she could have played if she got itno shape on that one

I also picked Steffi against Martina, again a high quality match, even towards the end. The drama in the match I don't think any Grand Slam final will ever reach. Martinaarguing the call, corssing the net, sit down and prtest for a bad line clal is just shocking, Let alone mentioning Steffi second set fight back, Martina bathroom break and of course the underarm serve, I do think that it is probably will be the most remembered, partly coz of Martina downward spiral after this match but more improtantly Steffi final farewell, and proved that she can still compete among the youngster before retiring for good.

also a side note, I dun think 2002 Jen v MArtina will be remembered as much as other matches, but having said that I think if Aus 2002 was Jenny first Grand Slam title, then I think that match would have beaten all of their candidates

Recently, I'd say 2002 Wimbledon. No matter how much you like or dislike the Williams' that was a terrific match. Especially the first set

FO Hingis vs Graf...

Plus to all the drama in the match, I read numerous times that Martina slapped an Wta official after the match, shocking stuff.

I chose the 1985 US Open final where Hana Mandlikova beat Martina Navratilova in 3 amazing sets 7-6, 1-6, 7-6. The first five games where the best display of tennis I have ever seen. Hana went up 5-0 and was taking Martina's first serve and rushing into the net, hitting nothing but winners. She could do nothing wrong and it was lovely. Of course she pulled her typical hana-goolagong walkabout and Martina nearly won the match but in the last set both women were on fire at the same time and it was pure magic. I just loved that match.

Second would be Steffi/Hingis in '99, for pure drama and some great tennis.

Third was the JenCAP/Hingis 2002 AO, simply for drama and unbelievableness.
